Digital camera reviews of Apple iPod touch 8 GB (2nd Generation--without iPhone OS 3.1 Software) [Previous Model]Digital camera Review: A Good Overall Device Summary: 4 Stars
I have owned this neat little device for over 3 weeks now, what can I say? There are some Pros and Cons.
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Good Battery Life (about 26 Hours Audio, and 5 Hours video), Scratch Resistant Screen (No Screen Protector Needed as I took a key to it), There are some fairly descent apps.
Cons: Back Scratches very easily (you should have a Case; I Recommend the "Incase iPod Touch 2nd gen"

Digital camera Review: A Nice Improvement Summary: 5 Stars
I have to hand it to Apple -- the iTouch is a great device. In addition to playing music, the Wi-Fi internet looks great, and the 3.5 inch screen delivers crystal-clear videos. I have an extensive music collection, but the 8GB model holds more than enough for me at any given time. I mostly use it while working out, and I was concerned that it would be harder to navigate than a Nano or that I might damage the touch screen; fortunately, I had no such issues.
I purchased a 1st Generation iPod Touch a few months ago, and I was hesitant about upgrading to the 2nd. There are no new earth-shattering changes or additions, but it is certainly an improved model. I had three problems with the 1st Gen that drove me crazy; thankfully, two of which have been addressed in the 2nd Gen:
1) An external volume button. Raising or lowering the volume on the 1st Gen required shifting the iTouch upright and then moving the bar across the screen. Doing that while running is almost impossible.
2) An external speaker. The 2nd Generation includes an admittedly quiet, but fully functional speaker. When you're playing a game or watching a Youtube video, it sounds just loud enough.
3) Delay in switching from landscape to portrait mode. This hasn't been addressed, and I haven't seen much discussion about it. It's less of a problem now that there is an external volume button, but it can still get annoying. Laying the device on its side while listening to music brings up the Cover Flow screen almost instantly. But for some reason, moving it back upright to get to the Now Playing screen sometimes takes as long as 10 seconds. It's not a big deal, but it can get a little annoying at times.
As far as the new features, the Genius feature works suprisingly well, as others have mentioned. I've tested it a couple of times while listening to a song, and it generated a playlist of similar artists and songs.
I haven't tested out the Nike + iPod component, but I'm glad it is included. The iTouch is fairly large, but sleek and light enough to not feel bulky in an arm band.
I've also noticed that the battery life has indeed been improved -- I haven't even charged my iTouch in a week. :) The exterior physical changes are subtle but noticeable, as it looks a bit slimmer and easier to handle.
All in all, I had to make the switch. I sold my 1st Gen for $200, and spent the extra $30 for the new model. While upgrading may or may not be worth it for everyone, I'd strongly recommend the new iTouch to first-timers. You won't be disappointed.
Digital camera Review: A Wonderful Belated Birthday Gift For My 5 Stars
Originally, I've placed an order with Amazon on 03/22/09 for the "16GB iPod Touch" for my son 'coz that's what he wanted for his birthday. Amazon scheduled for its delivery on 03/30/09 but the shipment hasn't arrived as scheduled. Then Amazon sent me a shipment delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/02/09. The shipment hasn't arrived on 04/02/09, Amazon sent me another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/07/09. The shipment hasn't shown up on 04/07/09, Amazon sent out another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on another delay notice and rescheduled for delivery on 04/15/09. I gave up and canceled my order with Amazon!
Meanwhile, I placed a new order with Amazon for the "8GB iPod Touch" instead, my son received his belated birthday
I wished Amazon had advised me in the first place that "16GB iPod Touch was out of stock" instead of dragging their delivery schedule.

We bought this for our adult daughter for her birthday...She is delighted with it and loves all the applications that are available. It is quickly becoming a constant companion.
Digital camera Review: A big disappointment Summary: 2 Stars
I bought the IPod Touch to substitute my Palm PDA. I was told it would sync with the calendars and contacts in Outlook 2007. It wouldn't. I needed to purchase for $99 a year a subscription to Mobile Me. Then it would sync. Contacts were not sync'd correctly even with Mobile Me. I called Apple support to try to fix the problem with the direct sync to Outlook. I was told by Apple support that the Touch really does not support Office 2007. What? Since I purchased the Touch strictly as a PDA, it is useless to me. I'm very disappointed with Apple and their product. Let's face it, they do not make their products to easily be compatible with a PC. Bottom line, it's not worth it. Stay with the IPod classic or nano for use as an MP3 player and forget the Touch.
