I got this item about a month ago .So far the items I downloaded have been great[Movies and Music]. The sound is very weak on the Archos but I bought a small pair of speakers that plug into the earphone jack and it sounds great. So far I've downloaded over 20 movies and they are great.It has a lot of memory left.I purchased the Archos at Amazon, they had the best price for the 250 GB .Digital camera Review: Archos 5 250 GB Internet Media Tablet

This was a very well thought out product and I purchased it because of the many functions and versatility. I only gave it 3 stars because the customer support is worse than none! I had problems with the fact that the only app that you could purchase would not install. I emailed the company for suggestions/instructions and never got a reply. I then called and was on hold for 27 minutes listening to 'how important your call is to us' but no one answered the call. I could not install flash which meant that with the wireless internet connection viewing music videos on line was difficult if not impossible. I was able to upload my music videos to it from my computer by converting the files, and the picture quality is great as is the viewing screen. The sound comes from only one side of the unit so the speaker gives poor quality sound. Using stereo headsets the sound is fine but I would have preferred speakers from both sides of the unit. Every function requires another product purchase accessory to use them which makes the unit cost close to the same amount to do all functions as the unit itself costs.
It's still a fun product to own, as long as you don't expect to do everything it claims to do. Having owned it now since last Christmas, I am enjoying the web radio instead of trying to view videos on line and watching my music videos or listening to mp3's. With 250 GB there is lots of storage space - enough to upload movies to watch too. If they were a user-friendly company with a decent customer support and sold apps for it (more than the one they have) this could have been the smaller version of the ipad before Apple invented it.

I purchased the Archos 5 250GB Internet Media Tablet a few months back for $199. I was skeptical due to all the negative reviews about reliability and poor customer support from Archos but I figured for $199 I would take a chance. Mine has worked nearly flawlessly. I mainly use it to watch movies and play flash games but also use the Widgets and browse the internet occasionally. I have had one shut down and restart since I have owned it. (browsing the internet and it unexpectedly shut down). The only other problem I have had was I have one bright pixel in the upper part of the screen. I emailed Archos support and 12 hours later they responded back saying I could return it to be fixed under warranty. We exchanged 3-4 emails back and forth clarifying that I would get MY Archos unit back or a new Archos and not someone elses returned unit. They were professional and very fast in returning my emails. One was within 5 minutes, all were within 30 min. I decided to keep mine based on it's reliability thus far. It's not worth risking getting a lemon for one pixel.
This is probably the best purchase I have made in quite a while. I use it every day to watch a movie. I am very impressed.

I've had this gadget for well over a month now. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but it works great, have not had any problems at all. It is easy to load videos and other files, works just like an external hard drive. The battery life is good. Took it on a trip a few weeks ago and watched a full-length movie on the airplane, with little battery drainage. I don't know if this helped, but I did turn down the brightness, which may have saved a little on the battery.
The opera web browser leaves a lot to be desired, but it does work. But beware, surfing the web drains the battery like crazy, I use that option sparingly. The product loses one star for this issue.
Good product, great storage capacity. Works great for taking my videos mobile.
