Digital camera reviews of Atlantic 82635385 Typhoon 216 CD/144 DVD/BluRay/Games Wood/Wire Spinner with Silver Finished Steel Rods (Espresso)

Digital camera Review: Excellent purchase!
Summary: 5 Stars

I could not be happier after purchasing this DVD storage unit. I'm not all that mechanically talented, but this was easy for me to figure out from the well done instructions and packaging and labeling. I actually enjoyed the assembly process which took me about 45 minutes. Every part was cut and drilled exactly right and went together perfectly. When it was completed I was so proud of myself and now all my DVDs and VHF tapes have a neat home and are easily accessible.
I did one other thing that made this unit better for the way I would be using it. As I would be needing to move this unit often to get to shelves behind it, I mounted it on a wooden planter dolly with wheels. It was easy, just pre-drilled and screwed the bottom part of the swivel unit to the top of the dolly with some small wood screws (4 in all) and now the unit swivels and rolls in any direction. Looks very nice too. This is a beautiful addition to my room and I would give it MORE STARS, if that were possible!

Digital camera Review: Fantastic purchase.
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this product to use in my dorm room. It works very well in the space and holds all of my DVDs, even the television show seasons that I own. I have absolutely no complaints about it. I put it together completely by myself and had no difficulties at all. Some of the reviews said it was difficult to assemble, but I found it very easy to follow the directions and to get it put together properly. I love how modern it looks in my room, and the spinning feature is awesome for the use in my room. It doesn't take up too much space, but it holds an unbelievable number of DVDs. After much research, I picked this product, and I am very happy that I did. I would recommend this product with complete confidence.

Digital camera Review: First reaction upon opening box was OMG this is going to take forever...
Summary: 4 Stars

My first reaction when I opened the box was a silent OMG. There are 100 (count them!) 100 parts to assemble. O M G! I thought it would take forever to assemble but it actually took just a little over an hour and fifteen minutes. Oh well, I had time to kill.

Like another reviewer I ended up with leftover wooden dowels but I have to admit I did not count them before assembling so there may have been extras. I'd certaily like to think so anyway. The instructions were pretty clear, could have been a tad better, but not bad. My biggest complaint has more to do with the actual steps of assembly, not the way they were presented. If I had ended up short on the wooden dowels I would have undertstood because every single time I tried to move on to the next step after putting the dowels in the doggone things kept falling out. There has to be a better way. You need at least three hands, maybe four.

Again in agreement with a previous reviewer, I really hated the fuzzy stuff that clung to all the shelf pieces; not a big fan of dusting anything and this stuff CLUNG. Everything was well packed; the small pieces were on a cardboard sheet with a cover that held each set of pieces in place. I think I would have preferred the baggies. Once you take off the cover to get at one part the rest all come loose. I also found a few flaws in the pressed wood pieces but, hey, ya know? What else would you expect.

All said and done it does look pretty sharp but as I paid over $40 for it, it had better look pretty sharp.

The real test for me was how much would it REALLY hold. I collect DVD sets of TV series and really wanted a place to store them that was easily accessible and didn't take complete control of my bookcases. They call them bookcases for a reason. Considering that most TV series DVDs are a bit larger than a standard DVD, and some significantly larger, I knew I shouldn't expect to store the 144 advertised but I have to admit I was surprised that it held 89 complete seasons of this show or that and would probably take quite a few more if I could slim down some of the fat ones (like LOST and Heroes).

So I am satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone that has a little time to kill, isn't overwhelmed by 100 parts, isn't expecting furniture quality wood, and has a significant number of CDs or DVDs to store. I would recommend, however; that they wait for a sale. $42 and change is a bit steep. Had I been able to obtain for the $30ish others mentioned I would have been thrilled.

Nuff said :-)

Well, maybe not enough said. I've now purchased two and both are full. Will be purchasing a third when the price is right.

And now have three! And now that I've put together a few it does go together a little easier. For the last one I made sure I had some help to put it together. Two additional hands really helped.

Digital camera Review: Flimsy
Summary: 3 Stars

Do not attempt to assemble this by yourself.
It took me three hours, everything kept
falling apart before I could attach the last
item, the bottom piece.

Digital camera Review: Good
Summary: 4 Stars

It arrived quickly and had easy-to-read assembly instructions. After assembly, its seems quite sturdy and holds lots of items. While it was not quite what I was originally looking for, it is exactly what I expected for what was listed. It is a good product.
