The Audiovox Car XMFM1 FM Direct Adapter was a cinch to install and preforms in a class by itself. We just took our first trip to a large city with plenty of FM Radio Stations, which usually interferred with XM, and because of the Audiovox Car XMFM1 FM Direct Adapter I was ablel to enjoy XM without all the hassel of looking for an open channel. I bought this item because my xm sirius radio kept losing reception everytime I approached a city or county and the stronger FM station would overcome my weak sirius reception and I would have to change frequencies, sometimes 3 or more times.After reading other reviews about this item,I decided to try it.I'm happy to say it works like a charm.I'm a truck driver and my xm radio is in my tractor truck.I now can travel over 250 miles and I might have to change FM frequencies maybe twice.Sometimes I can go 150+ miles without even changing frequencies.It even overrides the big city FM frequencies.My reception is now coming in so crystal clear with every station sounding like it's in stereo surround sound with the different vocals and instruments bouncing from speaker to speaker.It was fairly easy to put in also, you just have to get to the car antennae cable in the back of the radio.On my truck I just had to reach my hand up behind the radio and pull out the cable.You might have the same luck with a car.You'll need some zipties to tie all the wires up to keep them from hanging down and looking sloppy, I recommend black zipties.You can get them at any auto store.Once again this item is a must have.Oh yeah,you won't need that ugly FM extender when you use this item.Digital camera Review: FM Direct adapter a must.

This is a great addition to the system. I hard-wired it in, and concealed the wiring in the center console. I also sealed the antenna to the hood with clear silicone (edges only, not the bottom) to keep it from moving and to avoid trapping water under it. The included wiring is long enough for any installation.
Because of the direct-connection to the stereo system, signal quality and sound are definitely CD-quality - and gone are the fades and radio interference that prompted the purchase. Installed for nearly a year - no complaints, no regrets.
