I guess the price was too good to be true. Knowing it was not 'high end', I ignored the manufacturer's claim that it would handle 8 sheets and was determined to treat it with kid gloves. I only put in 2 sheets at a time. After about 20 sheets (two at a time), it jammed and the motor would not stop running. It said to use card stock to try and push the paper through. After quite awhile, that seemed to get rid of the jam, but when put in AUTO it remained on constantly. Another couple of sheets and then the AUTO started working, but the cutters would not feed the paper. I was only trying to feed it paper..no staples, no glued items..and only a couple sheets at a time. Amazon allows returns on this item. I am returning it for refund and now know it is best to spend a few extra dollars on shredder, in hopes that it is better quality.Digital camera Review: Broke on First Day

I've owned a couple of low-cost shredders and this was the worst. Shredded about 30 pages, 3-4 sheets at a time. And then it just stopped working. Tried everything: replugging, different settings, cleaning it out. Dead as a doornail on the first day.Digital camera Review: Broke on the first day

The shredder cut long strips, and did not cross cut. I should have done more research about that feature. On day one, the auto stop feature broke, and the motor and cutting blades ran continuously. The only way to stop the motor from running was to manually turn off the switch. I have returned the paper cutter for a refund. I did not want to try this machine a second time.
( By the way, Amazon is great when returning a defective product).

Machine flamed out with first use. Neither the 'on' nor 'reverse' work. Not a strong motor. Used it only on paper -- stopped working after a few sheets. Machine jammed up on single sheets; didn't 'recognize' paper and refused to accept and shred several times. DO NOT BUY!Digital camera Review: Broken already

Got this and the first day the CD/DVD "shredder" broke. A cd-rom got stuck in and cracked the plastic casing causing it to jam up.
