The shredder worked just fine for 2 months, with very light usage. All we shred is the junk mail we get. Looking at all the positive reviews, I have to believe we just got unlucky and got one of the defective machines. Maybe that's what you get for buying the cheapest crosscut shredder possible? My shredder broke after 2 uses. The first time I used it, it shredded paper pretty well, but I did notice that I had to place the paper in very carefully (i.e. straight) so that the paper wouldn't curl up and jam in the blades. The second time I used it indeed the paper did not go in straight, curled up and jammed the blades. The machine stopped working and hasn't come back since. I've turned it off, let it rest, etc etc. It doesn't even make a noise when I turn it on. I have tried to pull out some of the paper from the blades but the paper bits appear to be stuck for good. I am trying to return this shredder to Amazon, but I'm not sure if I can as it's been over 30 days and I threw away the box already. Word to the wise: If you buy this shredder, use it a few times in the first 30 days in case it also breaks on you, so you can return it. Haven't used it more than ten times. One day I got a jam and tried to pull the paper out and heard something snap inside. Now it won't work. Im guessing it was the sensor that snapped since the reverse function works fine. Either way, this is my second cheapo shredder that broke on me. I decided to finally just pay the big bucks and get a decent jam-proof cross cut shredder Fellowes MS-460Ci 100% Jam Proof Micro-Cut Shredder (32406).Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware

I bought this shredder in May. Seemed like a decent price. I did not crack open this shredder until just now in November to start shredding. I managed to shred 2 pieces of paper and the shredder died...It won't work and the availability of returning this useless piece of junk has expired...Anything electric should have a longer lifespan...So buyer beware...go to Walmart and buy a shredder---don't buy on-line where warrantys don't exist.
