Digital camera Review: A Word of Wisdom
Summary: 5 Stars

Just to share a word of wisdom.

A particular brand of battery might get hotter with a particular brand of charger and not with others. So, charger and battery brand compatibility is an issue. Also, the faster you charge, the more heat is produced when charging. The horrible battery/charger overheating and melting stories abound all over the internet. Looking at the way battery chargers work, the best way to deal with these issues is not to see which battery/charger combination stays below the temperature limit before overheating begins. The best way to deal with these issues is to have a cooling mechanism available.

Decades ago, audio amplifiers did not have built in fans. As you raised the volume, the power source would get hotter. If the temperature in the power source rose above the safety level and the amplifier did not have a protection shut down mechanism, it would burn!. Having an external fan blowing air to the amplifier would avoid this problem and the amp would work well at loud volumes. Nowadays, all amplifiers have built in fans and most if not all, have also shut down protection circuitry.

The word of wisdom is to use a fan when charging conditions produce a lot of heat. It will work wonders for your batteries and charger. A small fan will be good enough to produce a significant temperature drop in the charging process. Air cooling is as natural for a battery charger as it is for a car engine or an audio amplifier. If after using a fan, your charger fully charges your batteries and your batteries are not close to getting burned, then you have a good charger in your hands. If after using a fan, you have overheating problems, then either your batteries or your charger or both, are no good and one or the other or both, should be replaced.

Most chargers do not have a lid. It is obvious that in the case of this charger, you would have to keep the lid open while charging to maximize the effectiveness of air cooling, whether you use a fan or not.

Digital camera Review: Almost perfect!

After years of using those cheap, crude timer chargers which often come bundled with rechargable batteries and force you charge in "twos" (not to mention "bake" your batteries from overcharging), this charger was like seeing the light. I couldn't be happier with the performance especially since it charges batteries indivitually and "knows" which size battery it is charging. Plus there's no complicated LCD displays that could fail -just simple red charging and green ready lights for each battery port. I haven't tried the 9 volt charger portion or the discharge feature but the regular charging speed and efficiency is outstanding. The only complaint I have with this unit (and one I see others have mentioned) is that the only way to turn the unit off/on is by plugging and unplugging meaning NO on/off switch. What would have been ideal is if they integrated one into the opening and closing of the lid. Other than that I'm very happy with this charger.

Digital camera Review: At last a charger that works
Summary: 5 Stars

I've tried several chargers over the last few months. This is the first one that didn't either burn out or explode. I guess the moral of the story is you get what you pay for. Although this charger cost more than the others up front, it's lasted and done it's job. The others were a waste of money.

Digital camera Review: BC1HU 110-240V Universal Fast Smart Charger
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my third and last battery charger. I use a lot of AAA batteries. My DVD/CD cleaner alone requires 4 AAA batteries. My first charger only charged 2 batteries at a time and it took a while to charge 4 AAA batteries. My second battery charger was the most expensive one I saw and it charges 4 batteries at a time. And, like this charger, it also charges AA/AAA/C/D/9V batteries. One of it's selling points boasted that it had no adjustable battery posts for a much better charge. I was upset when the AAA batteries I had didn't fit in the battery slots, so I sent it back. This charger has adjustable battery posts and works great. It even has a button for fast charges. I find it hard to believe that the more expensive charger has a better charge. And this charger costs less than half of the expensive one.

Digital camera Review: Best battery
Summary: 5 Stars

Best battery charger I have found. Charges batteries much faster than any other I have.
