Digital camera reviews of Belkin 17-Inch Messenger Bag (Jet/Cabernet)

Digital camera Review: Finally a 17" that fits
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchsed this bag for my daughter at college. I had a very difficult time finding a bag to fit her 17" laptop. She is very happy with it! It works better than a sleeve since it has a strap and she can tote it to class and study sessions. Bravo Belkin.

Digital camera Review: Good Bag
Summary: 5 Stars

No complaints at all...Description of the bag is perfect. Delivery time was great. Thank you.

Digital camera Review: Good Product!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Messenger Bag arrived promtly at our house, and exactly as described. Our son is very appreciative.

Digital camera Review: Good bag.
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like this bag. Lots of pockets and the compartment you put your laptop in is super soft felt or something so it slides in and out very easily. I have a 17" Widescreen VAIO which is a real wide computer and it fits perfect, so I don't what all these other people are complaining about, talking about the bag being too small.

The only thing I don't like is the width of the strap. It's nice cause it distributes the load and doesn't dig into you when you have a bunch of stuff in there. However, because of that, the strap digs into your neck if you are wearing it across your body. If you're a dude and you have a polo shirt on, no problem, but if you have a t-shirt, it bugs sometimes.

Digital camera Review: Good, simple, basic bag, for a laptop and accessories - Fits Envy 17
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this bag because I realized I had nothing to carry my HP Envy 17 around in (my old laptop backpack is too small - I ended up sticking it in carry-on luggage). This bag has definitely alleviated that problem. The laptop fits in very nice and snug (but not tight), even with the 9-cell extended battery jutting out.

CAPACITY
The bag is not that large. I got it specifically looking for something that would hold the laptop, power brick, mouse and a few other things, while staying in the ball park of a laptop sleeve in terms of size (rather than a much larger briefcase-like bag). This fits the bill well - but I couldn't fit even one of my textbooks into it without a big squeeze. This is NOT the ideal bag for bringing to class - it's more of a light, casual travel bag for me, for when my main purpose is to bring around my laptop.

SHAPE
I like that the bag is fatter at the bottom of the case, in the front (look closely at the picture) - rather than being completely square. That way, when you dump even a large power brick into the front pocket, horizontally, the case keeps its shape instead of getting frumpy and putting pressure on your laptop.

CONSTRUCTION
The case seems solid enough but doesn't give off any high-end or premium vibes. In that sense it was a tad disappointing because it doesn't look as nice as it does in the photos. Simple, utilitarian, and cheap - which I like - but I do wish it looked nicer, somehow.

While I haven't tried, I can't imagine this case would hold up well under rain.

ACCESSORIES
Some people mention a hybrid bag/mousepad. I didn't get that. Rather, I got a simple pouch for accessories, which I honestly find to be rather useless. There's plenty of pockets in the bag already, I'm not sure why I would want to add a pencilcase-sized pouch. Conveniently, though, it does make a good replacement for the ratty old pencilcase I've been using for years...

SUMMARY
A simple bag for bringing around your laptop and a few other small things. Good for the price, but don't expect anything exceptional from it.
