I had ordered a cheaper cable on eBay and it did not work with my Sony Camcorder even though the product specifications said it would. I was sent a cable that was different from the picture of the one I ordered. Not good and I returned it.
This cable worked flawlessly. I connected the cable to my computer, then to my Sony Digital 8, TRV 460, turned the camera on, and it worked immediately. I'm very pleased.

I don't know what makes a cable good or bad, but this one worked just as intended between my camcorder and my laptop to capture DV for editing on the laptop. 3' was a good length for me as I don't need them very far apart.
