Digital camera Review: Convenient way to cut home theatre power consumption
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I have been using this steadily for about a month or two now, so I feel confident in its reception at home.

First off, its a power strip, so installation was a breeze. I particularly like how clearly labeled all the outlets are. Thanks to the always on outlets, its perfect for a home theater that makes use of a DVR or wireless router. The remote works from a significant range if necessary, though we now leave it on the coffee table.

Pros:
~~Cuts down standby power usage. In our case, standby usage comes from a large plasma display, 2 gaming systems, a subwoofer, and an audio receiver. So far, my kill-a-watt suggests that we're saving close to $25 a month by using it religiously.
~~Incredibly simple and easy to use
~~High WAF, my wife learned to use it every time within three days, which is a house record for any electronic other than the Wii wheel that came with Mariokart.
~~R/F remote allows signal to travel through walls and theater cabinets
~~You can set up multiple strips to respond to multiple units

Cons:
~~The remote is way too ugly to mount on your wall, especially given how large the supplied holder is.
~~It adds another remote to the mix (currently, we use a Harmony for everything but the strip)

Overall, this is a fantastic purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to reduce their monthly power bill.

Digital camera Review: Convenient.
Summary: 5 Stars

Love being able to power on my guitar equipment in my bedroom by remote. My amp and pedals are plugged into them. The TV goes into the plug that's powered all the time. So far the remote works fine.

Digital camera Review: Does help you save energy
Summary: 4 Stars

I really like this product and use it in my quest to lower my energy bill. This product eliminates phantom loads that devices draw even when turned off. This strip eliminates that when you click it off. The only feature of the product I don't like is that you have to use the remote control to click off the devices.

I prefer a device that turns everything off when you turn off your controlling device.

Digital camera Review: Does what it should.
Summary: 5 Stars

The surge strip does exactly what it was made to do. I have had no problems with it in the short time that I have had it. I plan on getting a few more. Works great for the mess of wires that lives behind my computer.

May 13,2010- Update - still have not had any problems with this surge strip. Works fine every day.

Digital camera Review: Electrical + social engineering
Summary: 5 Stars

The mount-anywhere wireless switch is nice--not elegant looking, but big and functional. While I'm not sure how long it will take to recover the purchase price through eliminated leaking current (quite a long time, I suspect, as my TV is new and uses very little standby current), the Belkin Surge Strip actually saves electricity in a social engineering sort of way. I now find that I don't power my devices into standby mode unless I know that I am going to be using them for a period of time (e.g., to watch a movie or sporting event). So, I'm less inclined to turn the TV on for a few minutes when I happen to be in the kitchen only briefly. Generally, I only turn the surge-protected devices on in the evening and when I know that I'll be using them for a while. Otherwise, I just leave the switch in the OFF state. It's more like TVs, as entertainment devices, were intended to be used, it seems.
