Digital camera reviews of Belkin Backup Battery Pack for iPod 3G

Digital camera Review: Good
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this battery pack for a 10 day trip to Italy and I am very happy with it. I never had to change my batteries once and I listened to it all the time. Reading other people's reviews I threw out the batteries it came with and used different ones and it worked great. The only complaint I have is the suction cups aren't that great. Several times my Ipod came off the suction cups and being on a plane with minimal room and people sitting next to me trying to get my ipod off the floor is not fun.

Overall, I recommend this product. It is a little bulky, but if you're someone like me who cannot live without music, it's a great product to have if you aren't going to be able to charge your Ipod.

Digital camera Review: Good Backup
Summary: 4 Stars

This isn't something you would want to carry in your pocket, but if you have a bag with you, it could be a big help. You can actually watch a couple movies with this attached. Without it, I can only get a little over one hour of video time.

Digital camera Review: Good although it has limiting factors
Summary: 4 Stars

Lets face it: The IPOD battery just doesn't measure up. It is supposed to last for up to 8 hours of music, but hasn't survived past two hours before it dies. Thats why this Belkin external battery pack is so attractive. It's been on my wishlist for months, and when I finally got it, I was disappointed. Although it has increased my battery life over 6 hours more, it still is not as streamlined as the IPOD itself. It just adds some "dead weight" to it. This being said, it is NOT very portable. This Backup battery pack is great if you are stuck with long delays at an airport somewhere. However, if you are planning to use this on your morning jogs around the block, skip it.
Overall, this Battery Backup is a helpful addition to the IPOD, but it's size and weight really are limiting factors.

Digital camera Review: Good but way to BIG!
Summary: 3 Stars

I got one when I was in Canada because my ipod ran out of juice and there was no where to charge it up... Simply put ... its just 'TOO BIG' for practical and on-the-move use!... there is no way you can walk around with your ipod and the battery pack in your pocket... its stupid... it is good for flights but that's about it...Belkin have made a smart looking and high quality product but the size is just stupid in my opinion...but saying that I wouldn't need to carry around a bloody battery pack if Apple improved the ipod battery life.

Digital camera Review: Great concept but needs work
Summary: 3 Stars

I really wanted to like this battery pack. I bought my 20 gig 3rd generation ipod for overseas travel and this would not only extend the battery life through a long flight, but also provide a source of power that isn't dependant on having the right converter and adapter. I can buy AA batteries anywhere.

When I tried it at home, it worked great. At least 12 or 14 hours and it was still working when I changed the batteries for a trip to Prague. There was one lock-up where the connection seemed to come loose but otherwise fine.

On the flight between the US and my connection in Frankfurt, it worked fine. But when I settled into my connecting flight to Prague, I reached into my bag and both ipod and battery pack were HOT! Okay, the ipod had accidently come on and maybe being in an enclosed space overheated the battery pack. Fortunately, I was able to reset the ipod after it cooled completely and it survived the experience, although with an expired internal battery.

Fresh Duracells in the pack and everything worked fine again while I was in Prague. For the flight back, I carefully locked the ipod's controls and made sure the battery pack wasn't connected. But when I took everything out while over the Atlantic, the battery pack was dead, despite the fact that I used it for only 3 or 4 hours in the hotel room. Maybe it is the x-ray machines in the Frankfurt airport frying the thing, but I was very disappointed.

The Belkin battery pack is a great idea, but if someone comes out with a more reliable version, I'm getting that and trashing this.
