I bought this laptop cooling pad thingy-majig because my netbook was over heating and was too hot to touch! It was really difficult to find a cheap yet sturdy cooling pad that wasnt too big for a netbook!
I have a HP Mini 110 and after messing with the pad for a minute i got my netbook to stay without slipping off and I LOVE IT!!!!

This does lift your laptop up and fits your lap nicely, the power cord and place it plugs in is made very cheapy and pushes in when you plug it in. I have taken mine apart at least every month to push the cable back so the cable fits. Works at cooling but the plug doesnt stay in the socket it is intended so if you dont mind taking it apart to fix it monthly...Digital camera Review: An Excellent Cooling Stand

I have had the Belkin laptop cooling pad for a few weeks and I love it. I use it with my Macbook and it makes a very big difference. Before purchasing this I had trouble working with the Macbook on my lap because it just got too hot. The Belkin cooling stand has a nice curved design that creates a small pocket under the computer where the air flows nicely. The cord is nice and short too, so it doesn't get in the way. I does cost a few dollars more than the Targus but I tried that one first and was disappointed. It simply stopped working after a few weeks even though I never dropped it or anything. These are the pros and cons of this Belkin Cooler. I have 2 of them so I am the best person to speak on this:
Pros:
1. Very modern design. Without the fan being on, the channel under the laptop lets the heat escape, and provides ventilation.
2. Inexpensive. It doesnt cost much really.
Cons:
1. The fans on these are very cheap. They will at times, be very noisy. It sounds like the plastic inside the fan is scraping against the motor. Very annoying. Both of them have this issue.
2. The stand to hold up the cooling fan doesnt lock. So, if you accidentaly push your laptop forward, the stand underneath will fold so your laptop will crash to the ground. Very dangerous if you have sensitive data.
Summary:
It looks good, just needs some work on quality and ergonomics.
