Digital camera reviews of Belkin F5L001 Laptop Cooling PadDigital camera Review: Another cheap chillpad. Summary: 2 Stars
The good: It did what it was supposed to very well... for the time that it did it.
I got this to replace a targus dual fan laptop pad... this, like the targus pad, feels very cheep.
The fan worked very well and kept the laptop cool. Much more powerful than my pervious targus (which I'm waiting for a replacement).
The bad: while it worked well, it did so for about a week. Now its dead. I'm thinking this will be the norm for most laptop coolers as all I've seen thusfar seem like they cost the manufacturer 0.05 cents to make.
The good: Lifetime warranty, so it will be replaced, at my shipping expence >:( .
I might give up and try a fanless cooler.
Digital camera Review: BAD DESIGN Summary: 1 Stars
This product has got to be the absolute most poorly designed product I've ever seen from this company. The product is intended for use with a laptop, but if you're actually using the laptop ON your lap, your legs or clothing block the fans ability to intake air and it is no longer effective at cooling. The little "leg" on the bottom is useless, it doesn't stay in place. The "non-slip" strips, yeah...they slip...all the time. Worthless. This product should be pulled off the shelves and redesigned completely.
Digital camera Review: Bad USB cable connection to cooling pad Summary: 2 Stars
I am on my second Belkin cooling pad. Threw the first one away. Took the second one apart as it had the very same problem - found the small plastic holding area into which the small end of the USB "fits" does not securely hold the USB cable and this loose connection results in the pad not working most of the time, or intermittently. Very cheaply made with an ongoing problem which SHOULD never have occurred. This is tinker-toy design and I think Tommy in the basement with the Toys R Us engineering set he got for his birthday is in charge of this product's R&D AND quality control. Would not ever consider buying another Belkin product.
Digital camera Review: Been using two a few weeks now and one is very noisy Summary: 2 Stars
This notebook cooler seems a little on the flimsy/cheap end. I've been using two of them for a few weeks. One of them has already started being very noisy. Not pleasant! The other one is in a more noisy environment but it is quieter (but definitely no where near silent - it's still noisier than I'd like). I am concerned about how long these units will last. I also think there should be at least two fan speed settings, like low and high.
Digital camera Review: Belkin Cooling Pad Summary: 5 Stars
This pad is great for notebook PC's and Macs. Notebooks tend to run a little hot when they're plugged in and recharging. The Cooling Pad's fan does a great job of dispersing the heat efficiently, with a minimum of fan noise. Any machine runs better when it doesn't overheat, and my Mac stays cooler, which I'm sure will help it last longer.
The Cooling Pad is great as a table stand, and the front leg can be folded in so that it sits on your lap, too, although you have to be conscious of not blocking the fan input located at the bottom center of the pad.
Overall, a very good product at an affordable price.
