Digital camera reviews of Belkin F5L001 Laptop Cooling PadDigital camera Review: Best one out there, but could be better Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this cooling pad as a replacement to one made by Targus. I like it, but I'm annoyed at the "kickstand" that pops out of the bottom.
The "kickstand" is a flip-out pair of legs that tilts the keyboard of the laptop toward you when on a desk or table. It also allows air to get underneath the fan to promote airflow.
The problem is that this "kickstand" doesn't lock. If you need to move the laptop away from you on your desk, the "kickstand" suddenly folds into the fan housing and your laptop takes a bit of a crash backwards. Nothing that is probably going to hurt the computer, but it's damned annoying.
As the shape of the bottom of the housing is curved, it's impossible to just sit the laptop on the fan without using the "kickstand."
Other than that, it works very well. Cooling seems to be much better than the Targus model I used to have, and the "Swiss Army" one I bought to replace it before returning it to Walmart when the fan started making noises.
Digital camera Review: Best price and value Summary: 5 Stars
I think it is worth spending 15-20 bucks on Laptop cooler. Not only it is good for the laptop; it also makes it makes it easiler and confortable for me to use the laptop (with cooler) on my laps.
Digital camera Review: Best purchase ever! Summary: 5 Stars
It is so quiet, light, and cools my laptop within seconds. I'm so glad I bought this item. Couldn't ask for a better piece of equipment, to keep my laptop from over heating. Worth the money.
Digital camera Review: Better 2nd Go Round Summary: 4 Stars
I'm on my 2nd one of these- the first was a piece of junk and crapped out after just a few months. However, when I contacted Belkin about it, the sent me a new one for free. That one is still going strong! For the price, it's a great cooler.
Digital camera Review: Better than some others Summary: 4 Stars
In the past I've used the Xpad and 2 different versions of the Targus Chill Pad. The Chill pads did a better job of cooling my laptop, followed by this Belkin, and least effective was the Xpad (really only made to keep your testes from melting). This Belkin is also a little louder than the Targus, but not by much. The stand is definately better if working on a table or desk and the wave shape helps airflow even if it's not plugged into the USB port. I've only had the Belkin for about a week, so I can't really comment on how long it will last, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So far, I'm satisfied I bought it over another Targus Chillpad
