I am a xubuntu linux user and got this working fine. Do not use the belkin linux drivers or software though, they are worthless. Instead use nut 2.2 or newer (for ubuntu, get it from the hardy release) with the megatec_usb driver. outlets are on top of case. easy to plug in and change plug ins. narrow case width allows backup unit to fit in the space available in my roll around computer cart. Switch is recessed and on front with lightup controls. No bumping switch and shuting off accidentally.
