When the power goes off and the back-up battery runs down, the unit shuts down and does not re-start when power comes back on. This leaves everything plugged into it also without power until you return and reset the unit. This makes it pretty useless as a back-up device. this is a great product, i bought it after a power surge went throught and unnamed brand and fried my computer.just last night it saved my computer when the power flashed,it did just what it was sapose to do.my computer didnt lose power for a second. i deffinately recomend this to anyone who want to keep there computer from being destroyed.well worth the money.the only issue i had was when i recieved it the first time the box was empty,but a call to amazon fixed that in minutes. and they shiped one out overnight to me in hawaii.Digital camera Review: simple protection great price

I've had several UPSs now for a while. Belkin UPS quit after about 3 years of work. I understand that this may be long enough, but I have several from APC and they are still working. One UPS, I think, now has been in service 7 or 8 years.
