Digital camera reviews of Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter

Digital camera Review: Adapter works in India
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this Universal AC Adapter along with the Monster MP OTG400 Outlets to Go Power Strip. They work very well together. I'm using both currently in India. However, I have one complaint. The manual says that the adapter locks into place when opened, but that didn't seem to happen at all. I have to use the adapter upside-down (facing upward) to use it effectively without it closing down or collapsing. Other than that it does its job well. I would recommend looking for a more sturdy adapter due to the problem mentioned above.

Digital camera Review: As advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

Works as advertised. Does NOT convert voltage, but provides an interface for multiple countries. Rugged and self-contained so it was easy to fold up, toss in the bag, and not worry about loose parts or broken prongs. Make sure your devices can take 110-240 and then buy this with confidence. Also make sure to read the specs carefully -- it does not (and is not supposed to) work in certain countries. On my recent trip, I used it in London, Stockholm, and Oslo. It was not compatible with outlets in Edinburgh.

Digital camera Review: Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter
Summary: 5 Stars

This device packs all necessary features into one compact, small package that fits easily in your bags - which is just what you want on the road. The socket adapters easily unfold and with compatibility for European, British and US standard plugs, you pretty much have all bases covered wherever you go.

And what about the performance?

Well, some of you may say "What's there to perform for a travel adapter? All you do is plug in your gadgets, and that's that, right?"

That's almost right, but having tried other travel adapters, there really is a ton of complications you can have with them. Some adapters fall of the wall when you connect heavier plugs (esp. ones where the charger/converter is built into the plug). Others are finicky and sensitive to touch or accidental bumps, losing charge off and on. Others won't fit a number of sockets for some reasons. And so on...

But on the contrary, the Belkin F8E449 Universal AC Travel Adapter comes through as one reliable, sturdy device. It keeps up the current even if accidentally touched or bumped into and hugs the wall like Spiderman.

So in short, this is a reliable device at a great price point / value, and a versatile companion on the road.

Just remember that you may still need an electric currency transformer for some devices, so check the voltage range on the device or charger before plugging it in - this will save you from eventually frying the heck out of it.

Digital camera Review: Blow Up!
Summary: 1 Stars

I brought it to Rome and the first time I used it it not only blew the fuse in the apartment I was staying in, but the entire building!! So much for a first impression for my host!! Needless to say, it never worked again....Buyer beware!!

Digital camera Review: Broke after one month...
Summary: 2 Stars

I brought this with me to Europe for the summer. It was working perfectly for one month. Then it broke. The problem is the flippable Euro prong portion of the adapter must have lost it's connection to the body of the adapter, due to constant flipping. Since I used it for my laptop, I must have flipped it at least one hundred times over the course of one month. But it still should not have broken so quickly. I had to scramble to find one in Germany. The only replacement I found had no ground, but it only cost me 2 euros.
