Bought this with my ipod. Does what it needs to do without sound quality loss. It has gold-plated connections and it connects firmly into the ipod and also the headphones connect filmly into the splitter.
The item could be al little smaller and lighter to do what it does, in my opionion.

It is a splitter, it splits. No problems with running two Behringer Ultra Phones, the sound is just as good as running single. I would have NO problem recommending these to anyone that needs to have more than one set of phones in a device. in my case it is to split the stereo out of a PC during mixes, and for that it is perfect!Digital camera Review: Earbud sharing BE GONE!

This was the best thing I've ever purchased at an airport, despite the fact that I paid $10 for it. Being able to watch movies on my iPod in stereo WITH my girlfriend made our flight cancelations and delays a little less tragic. :)
