Digital camera reviews of Belkin Flip DVI-D KVM Switch with Remote F1DG102DDigital camera Review: Great when it worked, but didn't last long. Summary: 2 Stars
This device worked great for about two months, then the video on one side of the switch began to go out. The video output was interlaced with hundreds of vertical red pinstripes, and many of the colors were distorted so as to make movies unwatchable. I will probably send the unit back to the manufacturer, if the warranty is still in effect. But, I'm not sure I want to have it replaced with another of these -- it just doesn't seem to be that robust. At the moment, I'm only using the audio and USB part of the switch, and have the video from each computer plugged into different ports of my monitor, with a DVI-VGA adapter attached to one of the video cables. My recommendation for anyone looking for something like this is to consider another type of device. Belkin makes other KVMs; perhaps another model would be more reliable.
Digital camera Review: It is great for lower resolution monitors Summary: 3 Stars
I have a 1920X1200 display on my Mac Laptop and wanted to be able to switch it back and forth with my larger PC monitor.
Is is quick and simple to install and the price is reasonable.
But I can not get that high a resolution to pass through the switch.
The Mac video is displayed at a lower resolution.
I really like the remote button for switching between monitors nd would use it more often if it supported the higher resolution.
Digital camera Review: It works as advertised with Mac and PC laptop Summary: 5 Stars
The product works as advertised with very little setup. The physical switch works fine, and so does the software (download from Belkin website).
Am using a G5 tower Mac and a Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop with dock.
Wish the cables were a bit longer and the instructions could be a bit more detailed. But again, got it up and running great in less than 15 minutes.
Digital camera Review: It works for me Summary: 5 Stars
I'm always surprised by the wide range of reviews for certain products...it seems that some products only work for about half of the people who purchase them. Wary of the negative reviews, I ordered this KVM switch and fortunately it works as advertised for my setup which includes a new Mac Mini and PC running Vista and XP. I ran into no glitches setting it up. I downloaded the software for the keyboard shortcuts and it works as well. I'm very pleased and relieved I don't have to continue my search for a USB/DVI KVM switch.
Digital camera Review: It works! Summary: 4 Stars
I like this unit. All you need is this oone unit because all wires you need are attached to this unit. Unit comes with an external switch that reminds me of the old days tv remotes clickers, not by looks but the sound it makes. This switch is used for switching betweeen the two computers. Note to all who gets this unit, you must push external switch connector hard into jack of the main Belkin unit. You want to hear a click sound or switch will not work. The Belkin Flip DVI-D works great for the most part. At times at boot up the keyboard on one of my computer is not recognized. After the computer boots all I have to do is click the switch to the other computer then back to the computer I booted from. This works all the time, not that this problem happens often. The switching can take a few seconds to happen. This is due to the computer recognizing the new hardware. All in all this is worth the money I recommend it.
