Digital camera reviews of Belkin Flip DVI-D KVM Switch with Remote F1DG102D

Digital camera Review: Ok Product - Belkin Flip DVI-D KVM Switch with Remote
Summary: 3 Stars

This product does not seem to work with two DVI monitors or it might be that it does not support a 64bit operating system. I have a Dell laptop and a Acer X1200 desktop with a Dell 24" monitor with both DVI. The laptop works fine, but when I switch to the desktop, it works for about 20 seconds, then the screen goes black. I tried it with an older monitor but still does the same thing when I switch over to my desktop.

Digital camera Review: Overpriced Junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Sorry to be so harsh in the review title, but this thing hangs on me about once a day. The only way to fix it is to power cycle it by removing the AC powerline and plugging it back in...then pressing the flip button a couple times.

When it works, it seems to do a reasonable job. My guess is that either the unit overheats after time, or the software gets in some deadlock/livelock state and must have a hard reset to fix it. The frequency of failure is really not acceptable -- especially given its price point.

I write software for a living. This should never have passed QA. Belkin is known for shoddy quality. I had a standard Belkin KVM switch before this one, and that sucked too. It wouldn't work with wireless mice properly. I don't know why I didn't learn my lesson. I won't buy another Belkin product.

[Update July 2010] -- Now, this thing seems to be on it's last leg. I have to hard reset it about once an hour. If I don't, the mouse starts flaking out and acting like a mouse does when the battery is near end of life. I just replaced the batteries in the mouse, and still it makes no difference, but a hard reset on the Flip makes it work again for about an hour. I'm on Amazon now shopping for a replacement switch; needless to say it won't be a Belkin product.

Digital camera Review: Piece of crap
Summary: 1 Stars

Did not work at all with DVI at 1920*1200 on my Dell monitor. Nothing but blackouts and dropouts. Switching was not possible either. Pushing the button did nothing. Piece of useless crap.

Digital camera Review: Poor Reliability. Amazon sells a better choice.
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this product from Amazon and one of the two video channels was dead on arrival. Prior reviewers have noted similar problems. I returned it and purchased the IOGEAR GCS932U which worked perfectly and also appears to be of better quality. It even costs less. Belkin should spend less on packaging and more on their product. I administrate a wireless Internet service provider.

Digital camera Review: Power supply NFG
Summary: 1 Stars

I purchased this a while ago and put it into service earlier this year. It worked for less than a day before the power supply brick failed. I verified with a volt meter that it is not putting out any voltage. Its a very small brick that is supposed to put out +5 VDC at 2.5 Amps.

The User Guide says that it has a two year warranty. I've got no idea if I've had it two years yet or not.
