Digital camera reviews of Belkin Mini Surge 3OUT Wall Mount 75K 918J with USB Charger

Digital camera Review: Watch out - 110V only!
Summary: 3 Stars

Travel yes. As long as it's only the US. The device is only rated for 110V. It's brilliant and I love it but this is a huge design oversight.

Digital camera Review: Great if you read and follow directions, and no one else uses
Summary: 3 Stars

This product is great for what it is...a three-outlet surge protector with 2 USB ports. But the unit has two shortcomings. The first is the need to press a hidden and not-too-obvious button on the back prior to rotating the prongs. If you don't push the button first, you risk damaging the unit. The second is for anyone to try to use the middle or outer outlet without supporting the back of the strip prior to insertion (once again, this can damage the unit).

Digital camera Review: Gets the job done and saves some outlets!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love having the two USB ports to charge my iPhone and iPod. It keeps me from having to use Apple USB adapters and taking up two pronged outlets that I need for other things. It's not quite as "mini" as you might think, but it's still small and you could surely travel with it if you wanted to (although you very well could still need a travel adapter.)

Digital camera Review: Good for travel or at home
Summary: 5 Stars

Good for travel or at home, so you don't have to charge with your computer.

Digital camera Review: Blew on first use...
Summary: 2 Stars

I received this from Amazon today. Unboxed it, plugged into my wall socked in my home. Proceeded to plug in a Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard to charge. Worked fine. Then I plugged in a Plantronics 510 BT headset, *POP* it blew. Electrical smell everywhere. When it popped, I saw a bright flash inside the unit and the "Protected" light went out.

The manual said this happens when the unit sacrificed itself to protect the electronics plugged into it and to call Belkin for a free replacement.

Strange since I've used many power surge strips in this very outlet and all have been fine. Hopefully Belkin stands behind the product and replaces it free. I owned it for a total of 7 minutes before it blew. Kinda scary...
