It is thick. It will protect the screen. It does create a film that decreases my clarity by about 15%. I thought I was missing something so I removed the protective device and it was crystal clear. I bought this overlay along with a case for my Zune....first mistake. First thing is, if you buy a case, you really don't need an overlay because the case covers the screen just the same. However, just saying that you don't buy the case. (They were both the same price by the way). The thing bubbles all over the place...easy fix right? WRONG! I spent over an hour pushing bubbles out of it, and when I finally did, it started peeling. It was like without the air bubbles, it didn't want to adhere. So now, unless I want to totally ruin my mp3, I have to look through air pockets to see my screen. It wasn't expensive, but for this thing anything above a penny would be. I hated it. Bought a protective case for my Zune 30GB which (surprisingly) didn't have a screen protector, which necessitated this additional purchase. The price is quite reasonable(currently less than $5), the protector itself fits the screen of a 30GB unit perfectly (although apparently not other Zune models, so be sure you're buying the right one) and was easy to apply. Only snag I came across was that it was a bit of a pain in the butt to get all the bubbles out from under the protector; I played with it for about five minutes, and by the time I was done, I had already managed to put a small scratch into the protector just from working the bubbles out of it, and there are still some spots around the outside edges of the protector where it lifts up off of the screen. Just the same, those small flaws are unnoticeable when the unit is on, and a small cosmetic scratch on a screen protector is much preferred to a scratch on the screen itself, so this item does pretty much what it's meant to do.
