Digital camera reviews of Belkin TuneTalk Stereo for iPod 5G, 5.5G (Black)

Digital camera Review: Belkins Microphone F8Z082
Summary: 3 Stars

I am not to happy with the recording with Belkins F8Z082. I telephoned the Tech support for help and I was told that this Belkin F8Z082 Microphone is not compatable with new Classic iPod. And I was told by Belkin's Tech support this item is only workable with Sterio iPod and not Classic iPod.

Digital camera Review: Best device for immediate playback and transfer to pc
Summary: 5 Stars

I use it to record lectures at school. You'll see a new menu show up after plugging it into your ipod. I did not see any way to change the recording settings though.

After syncing my ipod, the recordings are automatically transferred into Itunes. You just right-click the file and select "Create mp3 version." I had to use mp3 Gain http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ to boost the volume. Even my recordings from the front row are very quiet.

One note is that it does drain my 4th gen Nano's battery after about 2 hours of recording. You could plug in a mini usb cable from your laptop to charge your ipod, which it does comes with. I use my Motorola Krzr/Razr phone charger to charge the ipod.

I would recommend this to all students looking for a recorder for lectures. It keeps the electronic device clutter down.

Digital camera Review: Best one out there for opera singers
Summary: 5 Stars

As a opera singer looking to record my lessons in a small studio, I have been very pleased with this recorder. While my voice is loud, and so is the piano, by changing the settings to low I rarely have any interference noise, and the quality of the recording is near CD quality!

I don't write reviews, but I wanted to let any other singers know that I was very pleased and I highly recommend this recorder over the others (a friend at my conservatory has another one for the iPod Video that is no where near as good, he's selling hsi to buy this one).

Digital camera Review: Broke after using twice
Summary: 2 Stars

Seemed to record with good sound quality, wish it had worked longer than a couple days before it broke! This is disappointing, as is the Belkin technical support.

Digital camera Review: Cheaply made, disappointing
Summary: 1 Stars

I brought this when it first came out after seeing positive reviews in a couple of magazines. I was and still am disappointed and annoyed at how poorly made it is- the docking connection twists and slips out of the iPod, the recording/ready light flashes sporadically, the built-in mic picks up the hum of the hard disk making for bad background noise, the cover came off and doesn't reattach properly, and I've never been able to use a real stereo microphone in the line in jack- I only get mono sound unless I use the built-in mic. Kind of a piece of junk, really.

I am amazed at the average of 4.5 out of 5 star reviews, and the positive media reviews. Either the product has improved significantly in the last eight or nine months, or, as has been my experience with most Apple products and peripherals, the standards that are applied are very low, and people have come to accept poor engineering due to good marketing. I hope others have a better experience with this product; unfortunately it is the only stereo recorder available, which is also remarkable given the popularity and (supposed) versatility of the iPod.
