Digital camera reviews of Belkin TuneTalk Stereo for iPod 5G, 5.5G (Black)Digital camera Review: Choppie Summary: 4 Stars
As a musician, TuneTalk is definitely a good device for those who already owns an iPod, using it to record band practices and live recording thru the mixer (Line-in). The quality of the recording is great. I did hear from other reviews saying that TuneTalk is so sensitive that you'll hear the harddrive spinning when you record thru the mic. IMO, if you record live... the mic will definitely pick up other sound too and you seriously won't use this mic to record something that you'll publish anyway...and, if no one told you about it... you wouldn't have noticed it! Besides, If you use the line-in option, you won't hear the harddrive spinning! I think the only minus is... you can't really listen the recording while it's being recorded. But overall, it's a great on-the-road recorder for all iPod-owners.
Digital camera Review: Color me Impressed! Summary: 4 Stars
I didn't really expect much from this tiny little mic, but I was underestimating the sound quality. I used it to record lectures @ school and found it to be quite helpful and it even picked up background music pretty well...so I say go for it. A bit pricey but worth having it available.
Digital camera Review: Cuts out. Summary: 1 Stars
This seemed to be really cool, but ever so often the sound cuts out from anywhere from 1-6 seconds at a time. Its really annoying, and it a little inconvenient having to put your buds in to hear what you just recorded.
Digital camera Review: Didn't work! Summary: 1 Stars
I hate to leave this comment in a public area. I wanted to reach out to the seller directly, however I'm new at this site and don't really know my way around. I purchased this equipment in February. I accidently through out the box it came in before I realized that the item didn't work at all. When connecting it to my iPod, nothing would happen. I tried on my relatives iPod's as well and it just wasn't functioning. I'm so disappointed considering I was really excited about my new purchase. =/
Digital camera Review: Digital Recorder for your iPod Summary: 5 Stars
The Belkin TuneTalk is fabuous for using an iPod as a digital recorder. I have had very good results recording various music rehearsals (children's choir to big band) with and without an external powered microphone (Sony ECM-MS908C stereo mic) attached. Since I already had the mic, the total cost was very low compared to purchasing something like a Zoom digital recorder for this type of recording. I haven't plugged it into a mixing board yet. I suspect it would produce an even better recording with a decent pair of mics through a Mackie 1202 or better.
I bought a USB power adaptor so I wouldn't have to worry about battery drain. It plugs into the TuneTalk and provides power to the iPod.
No, it isn't as good as a high dollar recorder, dedicated mic-pre's and a pair of Neumann mics. Serious recording requires serious equipment. However, for all those other recordings, the Tunetalk Stereo is a great recording option for about $60 and your trusty iPod.
