Digital camera Review: Almost perfect, but very short cord.

I like the compactness of this unit. It runs at USB 2.0 speeds just fine. A cute little red light on top shows that it's plugged in. My only real legitimate complaint is that the cord is only about 4 inches long, almost demanding the use of a USB extension cable. Minor issue: even though it's compact, it does lay flat, and all 4 receptacles are on the outer edge perimeter. So, if you are using all of the ports, you'll need a bit of room for all the cables and thumb drives sticking out from all four directions.Digital camera Review: Amazing product, does what it's designed to do.

Pros:
+ Easy to setup; no install was required on my part.
+ No complications with Windows.
+ No noticeable speed difference compared to directly connecting to PC.
Cons:
- Red light is annoying.
- Had tendency to freeze up. (added 3/5/2010)
I purchased this product because I have many USB devices plugged into my desktop server. All I really had to do to set it up was plug it in. No software installation was required on my part. Compared to plugging in directly to the PC, there is no speed difference.
Recommended.
UPDATE 3/5/2010: After a few months of use, the hub seems to be gaining age. It's beginning to freeze itself randomly and causing mayhem on my computer. Sometimes, it requires a restart to fix, other times it's just a simple unplug and replug. Dropping rating down to 4 stars because of this.

It does what it's supposed to. Good product. Some points to remember:
- No separate power source. Good, b/c it's compact. Bad, b/c it can't be used for items that need to draw power from the PC...so you can't plug most external hard drives into.
- the "tail", the part that plugs into the PC, is too short. I'd like a few more inches so I could wrap it around, to sit behind my laptop.
Summary: Totally worth it to expand the number of USB connections to your laptop or PC. Great price. Design is very nice & efficient.
