My husband got me the Bose Companion 2 speaker system for Christmas and I love them. Absolutely the best sound from small speakers I've ever heard. The bass doesn't drown out the rest of the music and the sound is crisp yet dramatic. I couldn't be happier. Almost sounds as good as monitors in a recording studio. I bought these speakers at Bestbuy. As soon as I turned them on, there was a hum/buzz. It was very pronounced if I turned the volume 50% or higher. It sounds like feedback, but it even happens when the speakers aren't plugged in to anything. I returned them and tried two other sets while in the store (thinking that maybe I had a bad set). Nope, all three sets had the same hum/buzz. If you are highly insensitive to noise, then these maybe okay for you. However, if you listen to music with your ears and your brain, then the Bose Companion II "speakerettes" simply won't do. And, you don't need to pay $99 for junk. Pay less and get what you pay for.
Man, is Bose all marketing and no substance? I'm beginning to wonder.

The sound quality of these little speakers is incredible. How they get so much bass out of such small enclosures is a mystery. That said, the speakers are too bass heavy. I have to crank the bass control on my sound card all the way down and the treble control all the way up to get an acceptable balance. This is why they get four instead of five stars. HOWEVER, I am still pleased with these PC speakers and highly recommend them to anyone wanting quality output from inexpensive speakers with a small desktop footprint.

I've had these speakers for a few days now and they are simply incredible! I got them for my macbook pro and I couldn't be more pleased. I was getting tired of the speakers on the pro, which are decent for laptop speakers but still sound crappy. These bose speakers, however, are amazing. I don't really have anything else to compare them too, but listening to the wonderful sound quality they produce makes me so happy. And $100 is actually a fair price for a bose product. I definitely recommend them, especially if you are suffering from the poor quality of laptop speakers.
