Digital camera reviews of Bose Companion 2 Series II Multimedia Speaker SystemDigital camera Review: Another five star review Summary: 5 Stars
I wound up buying these to replace some cheapo speakers I was loaned for a couple months and just couldn't handle any longer. I went and bought these and the Klipsch groove pm20's, which are pretty much the update to the promedia's and nearly a copy of these speakers. Same size drivers, same aux input feature, same size, but when compared side to side I much preferred the overall sound of these over the klipschs. These have a little less bass and I would prefer them not to have the TruSpace processing, but the realism and spaciousness of them is quite impressive. And some other negative reviews are kind of right on the sound lowering when the bass hits, but that's at volumes that you shouldn't be subjecting 2.5" drivers to in the first place. They have their limits, but don't mind riding just close to max volume and still sounding their best. Even the passive speaker weights a couple pounds and they don't mind taking some abuse. These are my first bose speakers and I'm pretty impressed with the overall build quality of them, especially the drivers inside. Definitely worth the money
Digital camera Review: Astonishing Sound For Size Summary: 5 Stars
I am using these speakers as "satellite" speakers for an HDTV. If you weren't looking, you would think the sound was coming from full size floor speakers. And, they make very good substitutes for the puny speakers that are supplied with HDTV's - especially since they are self-powered and can be driven by the low level line output of the TV.
One thing, Bose should document that they automatically go into "sleep mode" when not in use - thus obviating the need for an on/off switch. From the comments I've seen, there is widespread disappointment at the lack of an on/off switch when, in fact, one is not necessary. The fact that they automatically turn on in the presence of a sound signal is another reason why they make good TV satellite speakers for those not having the space or inclination to go for a full scale "home theatre" sound system.
Digital camera Review: Average product, decent output Summary: 3 Stars
I expected to hate these, but they ended up being ok.
My friend gave these to me b/c i needed some speakers that had a headphone jack for work. When he handed them to me, I asked how they sounded. He said, "exactly what you expect." To which I said, "that sounds disappointing." Anyhow, the sound is pretty muddy, that is most likely due to the driver design which is the same driver used in ALL their other stuff. The amplification is ok and protects the speaker so the sound actually sound more accurate the louder you play it. At low volume, it's mud-city, at about halfway volume it gets more flat sounding, which I prefer.
The headphone amplification is very NICE. Compared to the output of my Ipod, it kicks the Ipod in the face. I run the Ipod through the speakers and use the headphone jack, my headphones are much more strong sounding through the speakers. The sound is FULL and ACCURATE. I used Sennhesier MX580s to test it. I use it daily, actually. I give that function a 5/5 stars.
These would sound a lot better with a seperate tweeter instead of the single "all-around" driver that is in there. They are probably worth $40 for the sound you get. JBL is much better sounding. Look at other options. I would probably go with Boston Acoustics MM220.
Digital camera Review: Awesome ! Summary: 5 Stars
The best speakers for a desktop/laptop. Connected it to my iPod as well. Sound quality is awesome! Worth every $!!
Digital camera Review: Awesome Desktop Speakers Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these speakers because I didn't want to turn on my surround sound speakers every time I was sitting at my computer doing work. My computer is also my media center that is connected to my TV. So I needed a pair of regular speakers that sounded good without the sub-woofer. These were the perfect solution for my desktop. I use these when I listen to classical music while I'm at my desk doing work or when I'm just watching some videos on you-tube or something. Also, they are great when I'm gaming late at night and I don't want to disturb anyone with the rumble of the sub-woofer. As many users have mentioned, these are GREAT when you are sitting in front of them and are quit loud! They are crisp and clear. As another user has mentioned, you cannot compare these to a surround sound pair of speakers or stereo speakers w/ a sub. They are desktop speakers and in that respect, they are fantastic! Are they pricey? Well, it's all in the eye of the user I say. I have come to expect a lot from Bose and they deliver every time, thus quality and performance deserves the premium. After all, would you pay an "average" price for a new BMW or a Lexus? Of course not. Bose products are no different. So if you're truly comparing apples to apples, these are truly exceptional. GREAT PRODUCT!
