Digital camera reviews of Bose Companion 3 Series II multimedia speaker system (Graphite/Silver)

Digital camera Review: Amazing sound for an amazing price
Summary: 5 Stars

Wow -- I'm amazed at these little things. I wasn't expecting such a full sound but these suckers pulled it off. One of the reasons for going with the companion 3 instead of the 5 was not only price but because of an audio jack output (companion 5 runs off USB). I paired off the speakers with a soundblaster X-Fi which has built in 5.1 surround sound emulation and crystallizer support (the drums are crystal clear and they don't drown out the vocals) and...wow...its practically like having live instruments in front of you.

I've never sat in front of my computer for so many hours just re-listening my audio collection. Bose was too bassy to begin with but I made adjustments by tuning down the sub and by increasing the equalizer vocal range in itunes.

You won't be disappointed with these. My house mate has a Logitech and he's already wishing he went with Bose.

Digital camera Review: Amazing sound, little pricy but worth it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've always heard that Bose had some of the best sounding speakers but was skeptical.. I figured I would give em a try and I am glad that I did. Music sounds clear and crisp. The bass is good but just like any other speaker system with a subwoofer placement of the sub is key for good sounding bass. I've got some RCA extension cables on order so I'll have more placement options.

I wish Bose made a extension cable for the volume pod - maybe I'll be able to find some other cable that will suit the purpose. If anyone knows where I can find such a cable I would love to know.

Overall I am very pleased with this speaker system, I am now a believer.

Digital camera Review: Amazing speakers
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had these speakers for more then two years now. They may be small but they pack a punch. Enough power for a room full of people to dance to. I routinely have the volume maxed out for hours at a time and they still sound like the day I bought them. At one point I was getting no bass from the speakers. I thought I had blown them by listening too loud. I was very wrong. My computer just needed an updated sound driver. I can't kill them.

Digital camera Review: Amazing speakers
Summary: 4 Stars

Besides the price (which is the only reason it's not 5 stars for me), these speakers provide an absolutely amazing quality of sound for the music I play. I listen to a variety of music but mostly classic rock and I must say the sound these speakers provide is simply stunning.

If you don't mind the high price, I really recommend getting these.

Digital camera Review: Awed by Bose!
Summary: 1 Stars

I compared several satellite-sub systems at Target the other day, ranging from a $50 Altec Lansing to this Bose, which was 2.5 times more expensive than the next-priciest system, the JBL Creature 2.

To cut to the chase, the Bose was the worst--the worst by far. All of the systems were tied into the same audio track, and you could quickly switch between them to compare. I'm not sure what I was hearing, but it combined crowd noise, and announcer, music, etc. The basic problem of the Companion 3 was a massive lack of midrange. The sound coming from the sats sounded like sizzling eggs, while the sub contributed farting noises every so often. The announcer's voice was hollow and distant, the music consisted mainly of cynbals and snares and bass, the crowd noise was static. It was unlistenable. Just horrible.

By comparison, the cheaper of two Altec Lansing's systems was a tad thick in the midrange, but the sound was OK. The $80 A-L sounded crisp and full, if a little too bright. After listening to the Bose system, the JBL Creature 2 sounded like a $10,000 stereo. It's available now on Amazon for $50-something.

So I am awed by Bose. Any company that can take a product this poor and sell it for this money is doing something awesome, even if it has nothing to do with sound quality.
