I just bought this machine and it is amazing.....the cd they give you to try out the sound is just awesome. It's so incredible the great sound at every level that comes out of that little unit. When you turn it up there is no distortion at all. Best decision I have made. It seems that I am far from alone among those who find this plastic box doesn't work for many cds, some of which are even brand new by majors such as EMI, and all of which play perfectly in my much cheaper, Chinese made Sony cd players. After all, it is 21st century and cd player making has never been rocket science. Now this shameful $500 piece of junk even cannot get that right. Turning the box over, one finds "made in USA" on the bottom. No wonder! I had owned a Bose Wave radio several years ago and after my mother in law talked me out of it, I never replaced it. I recently decided that I needed another one for my den. So, I bought the Bose Music System with the three CD changer. What a gross disappointment. I now own one of the most expensive clock radios in the world...and it doesn't even have a phone in it. The only thing I can compare this radio to is the Bose I previously owned. This new one has sound that you can get from a tin can and piece of wire when compared to the older Bose. The box says it's made in the US of domestic and foreign components. The foreign components must have come from China where junk originates. As I type this review my wife is packing this thing back up for return to Bose. A note for Bose...Aren't you people tired of screwing the public? I guess not, you just keep on doing it. And they keep on letting you. And a note to the public...unless you are filty rich and are buying these for your friends for Christmas, stay away from this inferior product. I recently bought the tabletop Bose CD player in graphite gray and I am generally happy with it. This version does not have buttons on the player but I don't find that to be a problem. I was sent the upgraded/ bigger remote so I have the remote it comes with and the larger one as well so who really needs buttons on the radio. I can point the remote anywhere and it does what I want it to do; you don't have to point the remotes directly at the radio. Basically all you have to do is hit a button and the radio picks up the command. Very easy and an improvement on the previous radio. The speakers provide a deeper, fully sound with more bass than the previous radio. I am not one who likes to fiddle with bass and treble all the time so I am satisfied with the sound quality. I also connect the radio to my tv and it provides excellent full sound quality for my DVDS. This radio is really for a person looking for a simple plug and play model that sounds pretty good and has other uses (like connecting to your television). The CDs sound excellent in a smaller sized room. This unit won't replace your stereo system but it is an easy-to-use radio that provides the listener with excellent casual listening that won't make your ears bleed.
