Digital camera reviews of Bose Wave Music System - Graphite GrayDigital camera Review: BIG Sound From A Small Box, With Minor Design Flaws Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this Bose Wave Music System to mount under one of our kitchen cabinets. We have bought several cheaper CD radios to mount in the kitchen over the years, and they all seemed to die after only a couple of years or less. My wife enjoys listening to the radio or a favorite CD while working in the kitchen, and I really wanted to get her a quality device that would last for many years to come. Although I hated to spend $500 for a kitchen radio, and another $50 for the needed Bose under-cabinet mounting bracket, I finally decided that it would be a good investment in the long run. I ordered directly from Bose and the packages arrived in only a few days. Installation and setup was extremely simple and we were enjoying the wonderful sound of our new Bose Wave Music System in just minutes.
This is our second Bose Wave Radio for our home. I have one of the older CD Wave Radios in our master bedroom, which we use as a clock radio/alarm. I have to say, both models sound equally as impressive. Bose has certainly mastered the ability to produce deep, full bodied sound from a small device. Every music style, such as classical, country, pop and rock, sound crisp and clean, with a low end bass sound that just doesn't seem possible from such small speakers. The LED display automatically dims when the light level in the room decreases, and the alarm feature gradually increases the volume so you are not shocked out of a deep sleep. The unit has two alarms, each of which can be set to wake you to a buzzer, the radio, or a favorite CD track. These are all wonderful features that make the Bose Wave Music System an extremely versatile device.
So, with great, full bodied sound and a plethora of useful features, what is there NOT to like about the newly designed Bose Wave Music System? Well, my only complaints involve the differences from the old system to the new one. In my opinion the new system actually omits some essential functionality. The primary difference between the old and new model is that the CD is inserted into a slot on the front of the unit, on the new model, whereas the CD is loaded into the top of the unit, via a flip-up door, on the older model. This change in design is what makes the new model ideal for under-cabinet mounting, since a top load CD tray would prevent this type of mount. However, I am a bit concerned about what one would do if the CD player were to malfunction. You may end up with a CD stuck in the machine, with no way to get it out. Therefore, I have somewhat mixed feelings about the front slot-load design of the new model. What I DON'T like about the new model is the lack of buttons. Everything is controlled soley from the remote control. There is no way to control the radio, CD player, alarm, volume, or even power on and off without using the remote. It is because of this design that I highly recommend that everyone purchase a spare remote control, as the included credit card sized remote is easily misplaced. Now mind you, for our current kitchen mounted system this works out just fine. But what if you want to use it in your bedroom, as a CD/Radio/Alarm clock? When it wakes you in the morning one would have to fumble around to find the remote control, in order to shut it off or to hit the snooze button. All of the buttons on the remote are the same circular shape and size, so it is extremely difficult to determine which button to push if you are in the dark. To me this means that when your alarm goes off you must switch on the light, find the remote, look at the buttons and push the one you desire. With my older model Bose Wave System I simply reach up and slap the elongated Snooze bar on top of the unit. This change of design may not seem like a big deal, but I personally would never use the new Bose model as a radio alarm clock, due to the complete reliance of the credit card sized remote control. It's just not practical!
So, do I think these nagatives should sway anyone from buying the newer designed Bose Wave Music System? Certainly not. I just don't think the new design makes it an ideal nightstand alarm system. It is the lack of alarm, clock, and snooze buttons that prevent me from giving this system a perfect 5 star rating. Everything else about the Bose Wave Music System is top notch. You get great features, BIG sound, and stylish looks from this system, which can be used in virtually in part of your home or office. The price is a little steep, but your money is buying you a high quality, great sounding music system that will surely last for many years. I purchased my first (older design) Bose CD Wave Radio back in 1998, and it still looks and sounds like it did when it was new. The new slot-load CD design of the Wave Music System makes it ideal for wall or under-cabinet mounting. I highly recommend this system to anyone. Once you hear it for yourself you will be glad you bought it.
P.S. I was not able to find the mounting bracket here on Amazon, but you can find it on the Bose web site here: http://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_PRODUCT_PAGE_EVENT&product=accessories_stands_brackets
Digital camera Review: BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment Summary: 1 Stars
Ugh - I can't believe this thing doesn't cost $20, because that's the sound you get out of it.
Even the most well-produced CD's from the mid-eighties when they still knew how to use the format sound like 128 compressed-to-hell .mp3's on this garbage.
BOSE is a giant marketing scam. This little thing costs $499 for which you can get a half decent Yamaha receiver with Polk 5.1 system (or JBL, Paradigm, Klipsch, Infinity, etc.) which gives you roughly 30Hz - 20kHz frequency response (+/- 6dB)
This Wave radio is about 280Hz - 13kHz +/-12dB which basically means it's rubbish.
You're better off just burning your money that spending it on this nonsense.

Digital camera Review: Bad Value Summary: 1 Stars
For $250-299 you can get the Sony LBT-ZT4: a shelf system that plays both CDs and DVDs; has a multi-disk CD changer; has a USB port as well as an IPOD dock; has the controls on the unit as well as on the remote; has a graphic equalizer; and has a more full, powerful bass response; all features the Bose lacks. What more can I say? The Bose is a nice table radio but a bad value at $499. At best, it's worth about $150.
Digital camera Review: Beautiful design, crystal clear sound, small footprint Summary: 5 Stars
My Sony shelf system finally died on me, I did my research and it came down to the Denon D-M33S or the Bose Wave Music System, I listened to both side-by-side. The Denon was good, but I preferred the Bose had superior sound and clarity, I could really hear every note played.
I was going to use it as my main music system in the lounge, so the problem that everybody is going on about concerning the lack of buttons didn't concern me, as it was going to sit at the other end of the room anyway.
You won't believe the price I paid for it, I live in Israel and the local price is nearly double the US price! My machine is made in Ireland for the 220 volt market, the workmanship and design are impeccable, and what sound, my wife couldn't believe that such a beautiful clear sound was coming from those small built in speakers. I listen mostly to classical or easy listening and the rich warm sound really fills the room.
My wife was pleased that I didn't buy a big system with large speakers and wires going everywhere, and the set-up was so easy, I just took it out of the box and plugged it in, set the clock, and programmed the local stations in the memory.
I only gave it 4 stars because I think that the lack of an on/off switch or snooze button could be a problem with those people who would use it as a bedside radio/cd, also it would be nice if it had more station presets.
Definitely worth the money, even at the exorbitant price in Israel.
