Digital camera reviews of Bose Wave Music System - Platinum WhiteDigital camera Review: Just A Radio to Me Summary: 4 Stars
This was a Christmas gift for the wife... its what she wanted. Its just another radio to me with a high price. I can not tell the good part..yet..must be my ears. I hope it works good and last a long time but only time will tell. It did get here fast.
Digital camera Review: Lacks Basic Controls Summary: 3 Stars
here we have the much-touted Bose Wave Sound System: it's sleek, compact, with impressive projection and is reported to have outstanding sound quality: but it lacks two common, frequently used features that are found on most any $15 walkman CD player
Bass/Treble controls and the ability to fast-forward and rewind within a track.
that's right, those audio engineers at Bose know better than you how much bass is just right, you cannot change it. If you put this device in a corner, you'll never hear the treble. if you put it, as they suggest, against a flat wall, the bass is still a bit overpoqwering, and you'll find yourself tearing your hair out trying to figure out a way to fix your $500 sound system. they claim to have an automatic switch for classical/hip-hop music, but in all the CD's that i've tried, the bass is much too heavy. Distortion free, but heavy.
also of greivance is the inability to track within a song. perhaps not as useful a feature as rudimentary bass/treble controls, intra-song tracking is something that I EXPECT, especially on a 500 dollar system, because i have it on my 15 dollar walkman and I, personally, use it a lot. i recently bought a cd with a hidden track, and i'll simply never hear that track on my Wave Sound system because A: i don't want 5 minutes of silent WAITING to hear it, and b: because i am returning my investment, and buying myself a pair of good speakers to hook to my old $50 stereo.
Digital camera Review: Little Space, Big Sound Summary: 5 Stars
I have a smalll apartment, but love the sound of music through giant speakers. Well, now I have the Bose Wave System on top of my fridge and, odd as it seems, I have the same sound and clarity that I would expect from a much bigger system. The sounds that emanate from that little box are powerful. I am completely satisfied with my purchase and I would highly recommend it, especially for anyone with little room to spare.
Digital camera Review: Makes music clearer and better. Summary: 5 Stars
I GREATLY recommend this product. When ever I listen to a song, the quality of this music system makes me feel the mood of the song. If you listen to a love song, it makes you realize how loved you are. All because of the quality of this box. It lets me feel and hear things that are impossible to hear on other music systems.
Digital camera Review: Much better choices out there! Summary: 1 Stars
If you do some research, you will see reviewers that have reviewed radios such as the Bose Wave Radio and Boston Acoustics Recepter and Tivoli Model One, and as soon as they turn on the Bose Wave Radio, they just unplug it and forget about any side by side comparisons, because it is so obviously bad when compared to the other two!
So... why do so many give it such high reviews? Because most people are impressed with big names and have been TOLD that it is the best, so they go on beleiving it. Now to be fair, some people actually do think the Bose Wave Radio sounds great, because all they have ever had before, were cheap $10 clock radios, and next to them, this sounds awesome.
But folks, next to the Boston Acoustics Receptor, this sounds just as bad to those of us that have heard GOOD radios.
Here is the best part... The Boston Acoustics Receptor, and the Tivoli Audio Model One, are only about $100 each, and BLOW the Bose radios away!
How Bose can charge $400 or $500 for a radio that doesn't even come CLOSE to sounding as good as the other two $100 radios just shows you that the cost is just for the name brand of "BOSE".
The two speakers in this unit are not even the SAME! If you take this unit apart, you can see that. No good engineer would ever design something like this where the speakers are not matched.
And when the speakers are so close together like this, it is silly to make it stereo, you will never hear the seperation anyway, especially when lying in the bed with both speakers only on one side of your head at one ear, or if you have one ear in the pillow anyway.
If you are shopping for a radio like this, the hard decision should be between the Tivoli Model One, or the Boston Acoustics Recepter, NOT this one at all.
In fact, you can buy 4 of those radios for the price this one is, and have one for bedroom, office, kitchen, bathroom.
I own just about every great radio there is, including the Ccradio, and have compared them all to each other. I would never buy anything with the BOSE name on it.
If this BOSE radio sounds good to you, it is because you have never heard the other two I just mentioned.
If you own the others, and then have to listen to a BOSE, you will not be able to figure out how they can charge so much money for something that sounds so bad.
But considering how many raving reviews this BOSE seems to be getting, I can see how it would be hard to just take my word on it. PLEASE go to some stores and listen to ALL of them YOURSELF before making the decision to buy one. You will see that I am right.
