Digital camera Review: prints fast but a little noisy

Nice printer. Expensive toner cartridge. Buy toner cartridge and don't buy the stupid "high yield drum".
It is a little noisy for me.
Even if you just print one page, it would keep humming for another 10 minutes at least.
There is no power switch so that if you just want to turn it off, you have to pull the plug.
Bottom line is that if you prints a few pages every now and then, this is great for you.
If you prints a lot, you probably want to buy a HP printer which has much higher yield cartridge for much less price.
Of course, you have the option to refill the cartridge yourself by buying refill kit. It is much much cheaper. Works just the same.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO DEFEND AGAINST "LOW-TONER TRICK"
On the right side of the toner cartridge there is a little round window that the printer uses to "see" the toner level. It is important to cover this with a piece of opaque tape. Otherwise the printer will give a "low toner" warning and refuse to work, even though there is still plenty of toner in the cartridge.
For years now, printer manufacturers have been using the "low toner"/"low ink" trick to force customers to buy more toner/ink than necessary - at prices that are often nothing short of gouging. This should be illegal. I threw my last Canon printer in the trash because of this.
Despite this, I highly recommend the HL-2140 for the simple fact that it is so easy to defend yourself against the "low toner trick". This will save lots of money. All other characteristics of the printer, except the manual paper feeder, are excellent.

I had been fighting with an old HP printer that stopped working once I upgraded to Snow Leopard. I gave up and just got this printer from Amazon since it seemed like a good deal & got lots of good reviews. Set up consisted of just plugging it in and hitting print. My mac recognized it immediately. The print quality is nice and it prints fast. I've had to print a lot of paperwork in the past week and it's been great! The only weird thing I notice is that every time it prints it makes my desk light flicker. Maybe it draws more power than normal or something, I'm not sure. Not Good For Printing Address Labels!
I bought this printer on sale for a good price (under $50). I was willing to use it as a "disposable" printer because I would pay more for the tone than I did for the printer. But you can turn on the toner save mode with no apparent lack of image quality and I was able to buy toner from a 3rd party for less than $30. The printer does have an occasional problem with jamming, but the big problem for me is when it comes to printing sheets of address labels. The paper is pulled from the front of the sheet and this lead to the labels pealing off after the first sheet is printed. The alignment of the print on the labels is also off.

I got this printer carefully reading reviews and feedback about...it turns so easy to set up, and got it printing in just 2 minutes install..some people complaint about setup process..NO..just do what it says, install the drivers first then plug the usb...printing speed is out of reach for ink jets printers...Image printing even for a black only printer turns out to be good too..I am glad got away from ink mess and money waste, there is no way to compare laser to ink...If you are looking for a printer to do the job fast and easy you are right about this one..no more dried ink worries, no more $40 inks for printing about 150 pages maximum, this have a toner for 1,500 pages for $44 plus a for 20,000 for $80... I did no mistake, if you want wireless they have a same unit with wireless, anyhow, I did set mine wireless with printing sharing in the network...so we print from laptops or desktop on it...
