Digital camera reviews of Brother IntelliFax 2820 Laser Fax Machine and CopierDigital camera Review: A great fax/copier/printer for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I had purchased one of these a couple of years ago for home office use, and recently bought this one for personal use. Works great for the occasional fax, but I use it more as a copier and a USB printer. Easy to use, and replacement toner cartridges are cheap and last a long time for me. The only downside (and it's a minor one) is that it will only redial one time if the original fax call doesn't go through. Since I don't do many outbound faxes, it's not an issue for me. Highly recommended!
Digital camera Review: A great machine Summary: 5 Stars
This is my fourth fax machine, my first laser. I am glad that I finally made the move up. The answering machine hooked up through the fax flawlessly and I get voice calls and faxs with no problems. That was a big concern of mine, and it turned out to be no problem. The machine is a bit noisy when it is printing, but not enough to be bothersome.
Print quality is good and it actually is usable as a copier. My only small complaint is that it is not small. This is a pretty big footprint machine. I guess that is what it takes.
Digital camera Review: AWFUL. JUST AWFUL. Summary: 1 Stars
I am shocked by the amount of positive reviews on this site. Let me tell you about my experience. I bought this machine in June of 2005. In one year, I have replaced this machine THREE TIMES. All three times, I got error messages that the toner cartridge was out (Toner Life End) even when new toner cartridges were put in. I do give high marks to Brother for its customer service, though. Each time I had a problem, I called and they sent out a replacement by FedEx along with materials for me to send back the broken one. But when the fourth replacement arrived last week and I turned it on and got an immediate paper jam message, I had enough. I had a similar issue with a Brother mutlifunction machine I purchased around the same time. I am done with Brother products.
Digital camera Review: Adequate but prone to paper jams Summary: 3 Stars
We have used the 2820 for some time in our office, but unfortunately after about a year or so of usage it become increasing prone to paper jams which occur frequently. You might be better off with a Brother multifuntion.
Digital camera Review: An overall suitable product Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the 2820 because it doubles as a laser printer, and is not much bigger than the inexpensive laser printers on the market. It is capable as a printer, fax machine, and copier, although it is not a flat bed, so you can not copy some things, like a driver's license. The fax machine is not color, but this is consistent with the printer. It is also only a 14.4 kbps FAX, but I don't fax very much anyway, so it's of little consequence. Overall a fine product.
