Setup was easy except to get the scanner to work. I have Windows XP and could not get the scanner to work, despite going to the website and scouring it for information. Called Cust Serv and got the typical, read-from-the-script questions. Nevertheless, Cust Serv realized this had to be elevated to the next higher technical level. Within 2 days, the problem was resolved; changing a setting from a "0" to a "1" deep inside the operating system. I'm definitely above average in my computer abilities, but this fix was beyond my abilities.
In the end, Customer Service was very helpful and professional. However, Brother should investigate this scanning quirk and provide a fix on their website.
I would purchase this item again.

This unit met all my expectations at a very good price. I wanted a wireless and wired networkable Multi-function laser printer-scanner-fax-copier for home office use. I wanted a multi-function unit that would provide quality scanning, copying, and faxing while having the printing speed and crispness of a laser printer. About the only thing this unit doen't have is a duplex printing capability. Most of my printing is black and white and a laser printer has the speed and reduced per page printing costs compared to an ink jet. My color printing is so rare that the ink ject cartridges tend to dry out and a color laserprinter still has a relatively high per page cost. I still have an inkjet for photo printing, but this printer is to be my workhorse printer and I can also have my digital picture printed at Costco or Walgreens on a photo printer that prints water resistent photos. The scanning and faxing capabilities gives me an all in one solution in a small footprint and I can print from my laptop in my living room to this printer in another room through the network capability. I purchased this as a small business network printer to replace an HP Deskjet, Brother Fax and a Canon flat bed scanner. I am very pleased with all of the functionality of this unit. It does everything quite well for the price paid. The only issue I have with it is that is seems to be very power hungry when started because we have to provide it it's own power outlet or it would cause the other electical items on that circuit to trip off or reset. All in all this is a very good unit.
