In the lab where I work printers are under heavy load from multiple users, and Brother HL-5250DN is the best of all printers we had so far. Toner cartridges need to be replaced often. I believe that a genuine toner cartridge from the printer manufacturer is always better and safer for the printer than it's cheap substitute made by who knows which company. This is why I always buy GENUINE BROTHER TN580 cartridges. I never had problems with them.Digital camera Review: Good Cartridge

I have used after market cartridges at half the price, I have refiled toner in cartridges and tried to make them work, but on both counts have been disappointed, the quality of the print was bad after that. I am not sure if Brother is different but Original cartridges seem to work the best and the print quality is as original.
I will have to stick to original, despite the slightly higher cost.
