Digital camera Review: It works well straight out of the box!

For my needs it is a five star product - only gave it four because I have no benchmark and do not use with DVD/HD so can't comment on tHD quality.
To give you background I had some UK PAL VHS tapes that are either out of print or can't be replaced and wanted to convert to NTSC so could record onto DVD - I know there are computer progs etc but I'm old fashioned. VHS player no problem off Ebay and agonised on the convertor but there is so much opposing info out there I wanted the reassurance of the Amazon ratings!
Lets just say it took 30 seconds to install and apart from adjusting expectations for VHS quality I could not be more pleased with the result - good stable picture, no audio lag, records well.
If you need a no nonsense convertor and just want a good picture then don't worry about more expensive models - this does great!

This converter is a life saver. I am in the military and stationed in England and without this converter my American television will not work with the UK cable. Im so satified with this product that I told a friend and she ordered one and Im on here about to order another one for another television in my house. I will admit that if you are a technical person, then the images might not be up to par, but Im a woman and Im simple. I just wanted a picture and in color. If you are a desperate as I was and want to just watch some tv then ORDER, ORDER, ORDER. You can get a converter locally in the UK but its twice as much and may not work with the tv you have. Pretty easy to use...its plug and play. It works fine for NTSC TV...no need for vertical adjustment, it automatically does it. I bought my NTSC LG LH30 HDtv strictly for gaming purposes: nintendo wii and playstation 3. I have a small 20-something CRTV that I use for local TV and satellite TV. As time went on, I yearned to watch satellite tv on my LG HDtv. I needed a converter to do this. Atlona came to my aid.
I received my product yesterday, and it took me about one minute (of excitement) to set it up. Now I am enjoying watching my PAL DStv decoder on my NTSC HDtv with little to no reduction in quality to conversion-related image losses. My sound was already working before I bought this Atlona converter, so audio issues are not pertinent to this review (though my audio is perfect). I am giving the product "four stars" because I have only had it for a day. I will update it to 5 if it stands the test of time.
Now, I can't wait for the World Cup to start in June. Go Ghana! Go South Africa! Go Africa! And oh, viva Barca!

I have my American bought Panasonic 58" Plasma TV that costed me USD2700. When I moved to Indonesia for my assignment in the jungle I move the TV because it is the only entertainment I had. I boast to the local it is the biggest TV in Sumatra. My 6000 employee company provided 110V 50Hz electricity and PAL signal satellite TV.
I bought this piece of junk based on the manufacturer claim. When I plug it in it never work. No picture. No sound. Even though in the front panel there is blinking moving green light indicating it is on. I wasted my money on this piece of junk.
$160 for some blinking green light show !!!
My Atlona CDM-660 serial # is 200904280230 and the manufacturer know who I am.
