Digital camera reviews of CH Products Flight Sim Yoke USB ( 200-615 )

Digital camera Review: Average Yoke for a Low Price
Summary: 3 Stars

I am giving this product an average review - not because it doesn't work as advertised, but because it is true that the stability of the product degrades over time and that it will need to be replaced every 2 years or so, and that's with fairly infrequent use. The calibration of my yoke after 2 years of owning it is completely out of whack. I've tried recalibrating within Flight Simulator and it's no good, the yoke doesn't have a steady "idle" position and jumps all over the place depending on how far the center column snaps forwards or backwards after applying pressure. I believe anyone considering this product should consider buying something more pricey because they are going to get more mileage out of it. The flaw in this peripheral is not in its construction so much as its design. Out of the box the product is great, it's not until later that you'll start experiencing problems.

Digital camera Review: Awesome, but...

This product would be fantastic if the clamps would secure to the desk without a gap. Otherwise, an A+!

Digital camera Review: Bad to worse
Summary: 1 Stars

I don't have anything other than the real thing (airplane) to compare this to, so maybe this is as good as it gets -- but I was disappointed in this yoke at the start and it gets worse as time goes by. I've owned it for three years now, using it with MS Flight Simulator, and it has degraded considerably since I purchased to the point of uselessness. I had hoped to use it for instrument practice, but no joy.

At the start it was usable, though poor and nothing like really flying. Now it seems to have dead spots that make it difficult to hold altitude or directional control, and you are constantly trying to "nudge" it forward with tiny bumps to get it to change and it holds-nudge-holds-nudge-holds-nudge-jump. The jump overshoots, so you are back to barely trying to nudge it again. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a under-$100-yoke, but disappointed.

Digital camera Review: Best Value
Summary: 4 Stars

As others have mentioned, the yoke doesn't feel as solid as a real flight control. Despite this fact, it is well worth the money. The elevator(forward and back) motion is smooth and fluid. The aileron(left and right) motion is a little light to the touch but also very good. The control levers operation is also very smooth. There are 2 rocker switches for gear and flaps, and some buttons on the yoke. Of all of the purchases I have made to enhance flight simulation at home, this device has added the most realism. NOTE: If your mounting surface isn't perectly squared on the edge, expect some difficulty in using the included mounting brackets.

Digital camera Review: Best there is
Summary: 5 Stars

It works. It works well. It works for a long time. One caution, however. Do not overtorque the hold down clamps or you will strip them and they won't tighten anymore. A gentle snugging down is sufficient.
