Digital camera reviews of CH Products Pro Pedals USB Flight Simulator Pedals ( 300-111 )Digital camera Review: Can't Fly Without Them! Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent product for giving the smooth feel and control in computer flying simulation.
Installs easily and works great.
Digital camera Review: Close to the real thing Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this product after starting to take flying lessons in a tail-wheel aircraft. I was looking for a way to practice the "rudder dance" with out having to spend a lot of money. The pedals felt similar to the pedals in the plane I am taking lessons in. I am using it with Microsoft flight simulator and it works well with the sim. You will have to adjust the sensitivity settings for your own preference. I recommend this product for anyone looking for a more realistic experience when "flying" on your computer.
Digital camera Review: Correcting for Yaw Summary: 5 Stars
In the world of flight simulation, there are many ways to pilot the aircraft that come with the programs. For a couple of years after getting my first computer, I was held to the keyboard and later adding the mouse for controlling various planes and helicopters. It wasn't to hard to control, but certainly not very realistic.
Having enough of those controls, I got a joystick with minimal axis control, but definitely better than the keyboard/mouse route. After a couple of computers along came a force feedback joystick with twist motion for yaw control. That was a great big step up in terms of precise control, especially on or near the ground. I still had to use buttons to handle differential breaking or braking at all, but it was really a time-saver in terms of steering the taxiways and multitude of runways at larger airports.
Today I own an iMac computer and I am using X-Plane version 9. The best part is however, I am on Day 3 with the CH Rudder Pedals. Unbelievable!!! Differential Toe Brakes, who would have thought that could be so great? And as in real-life aviation, I fly a VFR Skyhawk, I can see the position of the plane in a turn and add or lessen the amount of Rudder deflection. For an amateur Flight Sim enthusiast, you would be amazed at the control you now have. Reality never felt so REAL!
Digital camera Review: Defect in Brakes (or right pedal) Summary: 2 Stars
Only had mine a few days when I noticed that I was always pulling hard to the right on takeoff. I then went in and calibrated which helped a tiny bit, but then in game when looking at the ranges, with my feet OFF the pedal, the right pedal or 'brake' shows as if it's pushed down a decent amount. They 'look' like they are level and plumb next to each other, however if you push the back part of the right pedal down, it will go close to or on zero...but you'd have to keep HARD pressure to do so.
Seems like many others are complaining about this same issue on here and esp on other forums.
I am attempting to get this resolved as mine aren't very old, hopefully I can return these to amazon for a full refund and get another pair that maybe cheaper in quality but hey, they work right? And that's what matters.
The materials seem of very good quality, but they should have extended the back further and ditched the heel cups. You have to keep your feet in there which is not a relaxed state like in a real aircraft.
Not sure what they were thinking when they designed and made these things. Oh btw they slide on the floor all over the place. I would have thought they would have at least put an option for suction cups or grip thatches to hold it to various types of floor (hardwood or carpet)
Alas - it really doesn't matter, their design is defective.
I guess if you don't mind the heel cups, work something to keep it from moving (thus making you have to sit the same ALL the time), and don't use the forward 'gas/brake' features and only using it for flying and rudder - you might be happy with them...???
I feel bad as my only reviews seem to come from negative experiences. I've gotten a million things from Amazon with very little to no problems and they are usually as advertised or better! I feel it's my responsibility to steer people off of bad products as I would want them to do that for me. :)
Digital camera Review: Does exactly what you'd expect Summary: 5 Stars
Well constructed, feel very solid so on that front am impressed.
Had some issues with XP not always recognising the device with the same name, but that might be related to using a USB hub and having to unplug them from my laptop so not really a criticism.
