Although the speaker quality is not top of the line, it is more than satisfactory considering the price. Considering the price of this unit, one cannot go wrong. I use the unit mostly to recharge my Ipod after use. I am not sure I can recommend it for those looking for quality listening. You get what you pay for, it seems like it is very similar to more expensive models, bu then will not charge. Sounds fine, but was purchased to charge also. First one died after 4 weeks. Second one died after 2. I opened the case to take a looksee and it practically fell apart in my hands. Wow is this thing cheap. Also, you can't really turn it up much as the sound distorts due to the el'cheapo speakers contained therein. If all you want to do is listen to podcast or audio books, then maybe take a chance. This is a knock-off of the JBL - On Stage II. I purchased this speaker to see if the 3 watts per channel would sound close to the smaller JBL On Stage Micro Portable (2 watts per channel) model. I compared it with the one my neighbor has and it does not come close. While it also accommodates other MP3 players, I was surprised to learn that it does not have batteries - rechargeable or regular. It's AC only and therefore not that portable. Since I only paid $28 for it, it's as good as anything in the less than $28 market. I returned it the same day I got it ... and now I'm hoping that I get a prompt refund of my money.
