I received this on Feb 4 2009. But I'm having problems with the device. When I plug it in my computer, the device driver installs correctly and coputer says your device is ready for use. A new removable drive shows up. But when I try to open it, computer tells me "Please insert a disk in your Removable Disk (F:\)".
Of course I have inserted a SD card and tried to remove it reinsert it but the same message comes out. I've tried it on two different OS, Windows XP & Vista and same result.
I thought may be it does not like my SD card to found a different SD card but same result (one was 4 GB and another was 1 GB).
The LED on the reader stays red when its inserted in the USB port. I have not seen any other color. Based on these experiments I have concluded that the device is defective. And I'd like to get a replacement as my first choice or return it if that is not possible.

Works like any thumb drive once you put your SD card in it, HC or not. Problem is that the shipping can make it somewhat expensive, so check if your buying from a company that can ship you more than one product, but I doubt you can save yourself more money.Digital camera Review: Dont work woth Sony camera cards

You can buy this item from several different sources.
It's likely made in China and any PC supplier/store can have whatever brand-name they want stamped on them.
Mine showed low-quality workmanship and was defective (would not allow writing to card).
If you're gonna buy one, better buy half-a-dozen to ensure that you get at least a couple that work properly. Don't pay more than a buck a piece.
IT's the SPEED stupid!
I have tested a Targus SDHC card reader available at Walmart for $8.88 and found it to be much faster than the above and much faster than the Topram CF-RS208 which I also recently purchased here. Being able to write a file faster is something you DO & WILL want. Also you can fast-forward through a stored video at a higher speed with a better quality card reader.
