My printer, which was given to me by a friend, is an HP Inkjet 940c, an older model. According to information on HP's downloadable manual site, it is supposed to be compatible with my refurbished IBM Lenovo. When I tried to connect it to the printer, it wouldn't fit! Bought this cable in an attempt to convert my Zebra Z4M Plus label printer into a USB device (since my new computer doesn't have a Parallel port. My attempt was to extend the current cable since I knew it worked.
I originally bought Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer Cable as a replace for the cable which didn't work. Figuring that I could use this as an extension should work fine. Unfortunately it didn't. I tried every recommendation they state in the flier that came with the cable along with others, but nothing seemed to work.
The cable was detected within Windows XP, but the priter never was. The printer did read Online after a reboot (or spooler restart) but it dever printed to it.

This is probably a good device however it does not work with any HP desktop or laptop. I'm a network engineer and I've been working with HP to no avail. It is a problem with their BIOS and no fault of the cable manufacturer. But if you have an HP computer don't order this one. We had to get the Belkin F5U002 which does work (although more than twice the price).Digital camera Review: Don't order this cable for a mac!

I ordered this because some other reviewers had claimed mac compatibility. Upon receiving it, I immediately became suspicious because the packaging said "Use a USB port on your PC to connect to a parallel printer." Unfortunately, it did not work to connect my HP LaserJet 2100 to my macbook pro! It appears mac compatibility is the exception and not the rule. It did, however, work perfectly when connect to a PC.
