Digital camera Review: Do NOT buy for Home Theater! (no HD)
Summary: 1 Stars

Cable quality appears to be very nice. Very thick shielding. However, with Win7 at least, you will not be able to get native resolution for your TV through this cable (if you have a 1080p HD TV). I bought this because I wanted to put the computer farther than 6 ft away (length of VGA cable I had). When I hooked this up, the resolution dropped from 1920x1080, to 1024x768, and windows would not allow 1080p resolution. Go back to the cheap 6 ft VGA, works no problem. Apparently, some VGA cables don't support a certain pin that helps the computer identify the monitor, so windows locks any monitor you hook up with this to "generic PnP monitor". I've tried 2 long VGA cables so far, same results with both. I wish there were a way to identify up front which VGA cables support 1080p (identify monitor type), and which don't.

Digital camera Review: Does not support EDID (Detection of video modes), adds ghosting
Summary: 1 Stars

If you are looking to extend the length of your computer's LCD monitor, DO NOT BUY THIS CABLE.

I work in IT and needed to extend the cable length of a client's monitor to reach around their desk to connect to a Windows 7 machine. VGA uses a feature called EDID ([..]) which allows the computer to automatically detect the available resolutions your monitor supports. This cable apparently does not fully support EDID data and therefore does not pass the native resolution of your LCD screen to the computer. This means the computer cannot set the correct resolution of your screen to give the the sharpest picture possible, and instead chooses a generic mode that may work but usually looks terrible.

I also noticed an immediate picture degradation when plugging this cable in, with a bad ghosting effect. It may work in some situations, but you really get what you pay for. Every now and then I try to avoid this lesson, but time and time again I get a kick in the pants. Hopefully this can help you avoid a bad buy.

Digital camera Review: Does the job
Summary: 5 Stars

We picked this up so we could hook up one of our Gateway Media Center PCs to our HDTV in the family room. Along with my new Logitech keyboard and mouse its a great set up! I can't wait to watch hulu.com with this!

Digital camera Review: Doesn't work
Summary: 1 Stars

The description led me to believe this would be a cable that would be recognized both by my computer (Lenovo X301) and my television (Toshiba) for display of images on the computer or for streaming video. It did neither. The cable was not recognized by the TV at all.

Digital camera Review: Easy as Pie
Summary: 5 Stars

I used this cable to connect my pc to a 26" Samsung LCD tv/monitor. It took only seconds to connect and works great. I didn't have to make any adjustments and the resolution is very good. It was also very reasonably priced.
