Digital camera reviews of Cables To Go 35508 iPod-Compatible 3.5 mm to Dock Connector Audio Cable (4 Feet)

Digital camera Review: For this Ipod Classic owner, just what I needed.
Summary: 5 Stars

A cable that plays the Ipod (2009 Classic 160GB in my case) line-out audio is all this new iPod owner wanted.

For passing the iPod's audio through powered speakers or a car's audio system, the line-out audio source from the docking port is what you want. There seems to be a consensus online that the iPod's line-out is better quality audio, but in my case I just don't like fiddling with two volume settings. Use your stereo's amplifier to power the pure sound that (allegedly) bypasses the iPod's internal amplification circuits. (Note: on my iPod, the EQ settings are applied to both audio outputs, but SoundCheck is only used through the headphone.

I like that this company's cable is more robust than the Apple sync cable that came with my player. For use in my car, the 3.5mm AUX IN jack is in the armrest storage bin, and the cord has to be routed through a pass-through hole in the armrest. A wimpy cable (like one I recently returned to Target) would not stand up to regular use like this. (Anti-theft note: don't leave your player, or GPS, or other gadgets, in plain view -- thieves will happily target your car. Likewise the chargers, connection cords, et al -- if you leave those lying out, thieves will play a hunch that your gizmo is in the glove box or center console storage. Your windows may be smashed regardless of what's inside.)

The docking plug has little locks on it, so that the plug won't fall out easily during use in a car. This might annoy some who prefer the Apple variety of "easy disconnect," but when you're driving the connection should be secure.

Oh, and please: DON'T TRY TO OPERATE YOUR IPOD WHILE DRIVING. Pull over if you have to operate the click-wheel.

In all, worth the $12 I paid for this.

Digital camera Review: GREAT iPod Connector!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best ipod connector I have found for listening to your ipod through your home or auto stereo......much much better than using the headphones jack outlet.

Digital camera Review: Get better sound quality and use your vehicle's controls to adjust the volume
Summary: 5 Stars

If you have an iPod and want to listen to it while you are driving, you owe it to yourself to get this cable! Prior to using this cable I have used the FM transmitter (fun if you like changing channels and enjoy dealing with bleed thru) as well as using the cable that inserts into the headphone jack of the iPod. While that cable is an improvement over the FM transmitter, it is a bit noisy and the volume controls must be properly adjusted in order to avoid introducing distortion (set the iPod volume at ~3/4 strength then adjust the volume on the car stereo). How does this dock connector cable compare to the headphone out cable? Smokes it!!! Zero noise and all your volume is controlled through your stereo system. Just plug it in and use your controls, including mute, as usual. BTW, you can use it on your home stereo system as well!

Digital camera Review: Good cable for my iPod Classic (latest generation)
Summary: 5 Stars

This cable is just long enough, and it is very flexible and easy to use. If you car only has an AUX jack (1/8" stereo plug), I HIGHLY recommend this cable for connecting your iPod to your car stereo.

Digital camera Review: Good cable, but not for Iphone
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this cable thinking it would work for all ipods / iphones... after all it is just line out, not charging. Well it turns out this cable does not work for iphone, and from what I read, ipod touch as well. This must be just an old gen cable.
