Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware! 1 STAR

UNABLE TO CHANGE RATING WITH EDIT!

Loved this hub but it only lasted a year. For the kind of money I paid I was expecting a quality product. This is junk - save your money and look elsewhere.

Digital camera Review: CAUTION!!
Summary: 1 Stars

This thing causes major issues with Windows 7 when it's disconnected from the USB port after being connected. Causes Windows to hang on shut down or sleep, all USB goes unresponsive, and will give a BSOD during shutdown or sleep. Even contacted Microsoft support regarding this and they were baffled at what could be wrong (even escalated to Win 7 Research Team). I'm not sure whether its Windows fault or the hub itself...but stay away from this one! Returned it and got the Belkin hub instead---and it's not giving any problems! Digital camera Review: Cable to Go 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using the Cables to Go 7 port USB hub for several months with an iMac G5. It has worked flawlessly. I put a strip of thick double sided tape on the bottom of the hub's separate base plate and stuck it to the base of the iMac. I was worried that the blue LED would be too bright, but find that it is just right. Not too bright to be annoying or so dim as to be useless. This one one of the few hubs that I could find that put more ports on the back than on the front. The Power supply, 4 USB ports, and the uplink port are all on the back, which keeps cable clutter for permanently connected devices out of the way.

Very well made. Metal base can be screwed down or velcroed, and hub itself can be slid in and out. I have it attached vertically on the hutch atop my desk.(the product now includes an insert to keep the hub from sliding down in a vertical installation;it works fine) It is a pleasure to use since it is rock solid and at eye level. 3 ports face forward for temporary use like camera cards, ipods, etc. Rear-facing 4 ports have more permanent connections like printer, scanner, external hard drive. What sold me on this is the fact that, unlike desktop models, this will not slide around or require two hands to use. As for the blue light criticism, in my setup the light shines perpendicular to my field of vision, so it is not a factor at all. Everything I have plugged into it has worked, including the Sentry Safe fireproof waterproof external drive, which requires two powered USB ports.

This is a good product at a fair price. It worked instantly and worked well. Shipment was quick and without complication.
