Digital camera Review: Beware of passive splitters

!Important!: Due to the current state of the technology, results using HDMI and DVI splitters can be mixed. Especially passive splitters which rely on the individual devices ability to negotiate a 3 way handshake. The problem is not all devices are programmed to deal with this properly and will sometimes default to a HDCP error state. To put it simply, some devices will consider the splitting of a signal to be a copyright violation, which could result in only one display being shown at a time or the blocking of content altogether. This type of situation is considered to be a device compatibility issue and can not be fixed short of a firmware update by the individual device manufacturers. This product is ok. The problem is not the product but the description of the product.
It does however work if you know what you're doing, or if by chance all your products are the right version of HDMI. I however have lots of different versions of HDMI products. For example I have some monster HDMI cables that are version 1.3a cat2 and some that are still version 1.0. this device works with all my products that are of version 1.0 but it doesn't work with anything that is 1.3a or higher. Because HDMI is still relatively new and has not been standardized yet it may or may not work with all your HDMI products. The product does however only work as a splitter and not a switcher. I am returning this for a 1.3a splitter. I bought this one because I like its design more than that of the 1.3a switchers that seem to use a power supply and an extra HDMI cable. I give it a 10 for design and a 2 for compatibility. (really have to have things just right to get it to work.)
To sum things up for the less technical person. If you bought all your HDMI products a long time ago or buy cheap you are probably safe, but if you have mixed and matched (cheap/expensive, new/really old) then this product is less likely to work for you.

I get video, but no audio over HDMI, and video on one TV has noticeable signal loss.
Don't waste your money on this. Get an amplified splitter.

Not much I can say about this... Didn't work a bit when it arrived. Great concept, simple design, failure on implementation.
