I had my eye on these binoculars for months now. When I saw them on sale at Amazon, I jumped. Amazon was only about $150.00 cheaper than a store I was planning to buy at. When they came, I couldn't believe how well the Image Stabilizer works. I remember my Dad's Binoculars as a kid. Man! Did the image look shakey! With Canon's I.S. technology, with a push of a well located button, the image stabilizes perfectly! These are great for watching wild life, birds, boats or in your neighbor's window (just kidding). I like them so much, I am saving up money now to buy the next higher up magnification for more intense bird wathcing at greater distances. I would highly recommend these sturdy, well engineered binoculars to anyone. They are EASILY worth every penny.Digital camera Review: Excellent View

These binoculors are awesome. I'm a diehard Nikon fan for cameras/lens but the optics on these Canon binoculors are incredible. The stabilise button turns on an internal gyroscope or something and the image clears up.Digital camera Review: Excellent for Bird Watching on a Hike

Yes, they're a little costly, and they aren't so light that you'll forget you've got them hanging from your neck. Also, they won't take abuse; they really resent being dropped, they are afraid of the water, and they don't respond well to being spanked or shaken.
So why might you need them?
1. The optics are extremely good; stick to canon and Nikon, and you'll be okay.
2. The Image Stabilization is effective; it gives you enough of an edge to find feather details etc. that you'd miss without IS. If you have a hard time holding binoculars steady enough, this edge will be worth double.
3. The Canon guarantee is long-lasting and, in my experience, Canon service is prompt and thorough. I do note that a couple of one-star reviewers would beg to differ.
These are probably the cheapest IS binoculars that are worth considering. Otherwise, choose your binos by some other criterion, but stay away from Bushnell and don't expect great optics from ultra-cheapos.

We live at the edge of a bay and do a fair amount of bird and boat watching. We've been using the binoculars for five months now and find them GREAT for that purpose. We use them constantly and the IS feature takes the annoying flutter away. We would like to get another pair for the car. Can't recommend them highly enough.Digital camera Review: Excellent product
