Does the job. The silver battery is not really noticeable when used with the black HF10. I was going to get the larger 819 but it is difficult to find in stock anywhere. I purchased this as a second battery for the Canon HF10. It gets about 80min of recording time when not using the video light. Not much else to say, it's just like the one that comes with the camera.Digital camera Review: Good backup battery

The battery had a slightly lighter color than the camcorder. It fully charges in less than 45 minutes and last ~80 minutes with minimal use of the digital zoom. With excessive use of the zoom, the battery will only last ~60-65 minutes of recording time.
I have charged the battery almost 10 times now, and each time it last approximately the same recording time. In this sense, you can always count on the battery being reliable. I would strongly recommend this product if the price was lower. At the current price, it's not a bargain, and not a good value, but a good replacement/backup option.

Great Battery. I bought a few of them since it only lasts for 80 minutes and the BP819 was not available & I was heading of for a cruise. Over the 2 weeks I discharged and recharged them a dozen times each, no problems.
Handling the camera for about 4-5 hours each day, I was glad only the 809 was available. I am not sure if the larger size of the 819 would have made the camera handling as comfortable.

I bought this as a second battery and switch them out. I rarely video tape for more than 90 minutes (which is what this battery is good for) so I like having two smaller batteries instead of one big one. It keeps the camcorder nice and small. I say be careful with generics because they don't have the "i" or intelligence which tells you how much battery time you have left. I used a generic battery with my old Canon Hi-8 and it worked great, but I didn't like knowing what was left.
