Digital camera Review: Game-changing technology

Until I learned of the CG-800 and its remarkable capabilities, I was using my $85 Canon batteries as disposables. I had a feeling something was wrong; could digital video really be this expensive?
Since receiving my CG-800, I've been using my batteries again and again. In fact, I've canceled my monthly "Subscribe & Save" Canon battery shipment. Truly marvelous stuff.

Seriously people, get the generics. They are fractions of the price. They work just as good. The charger even comes with a car adapter, and a 220v adapter. All for $10. I've had plenty of generic batteries and accessories in the past. They always hold up against the "name brand" version.

Way too much for a battery charger.
Come on now .....
Works fine, but price is a ripoff.
amazon makes things worse by charging tax to NY when lots of online retailers don't, such as Newegg.
I always look elsewhere 1st - Amazon is my last choice now.
Look around and factor tax in - you will see - you can usually do better than Amazon.

The battery charger is very useful, especially if you're in a hurry. I bought the Canon BP-819 battery and it took about 2 hours to charge which is quicker than using the camcorder to charge. There are only 2 issues that I have with the charger.
1. It gets really hot, so if you have children around becareful.
2. I think it is pricey for this charger. Wish Canon would include it with the camcorder but that is where Canon gets you to buy their product.
Overall, good product. If you plan to be recording and you need a quick charge, this will be helpful.

These chargers are a great design by Canon, I have the same thing for my 5D Mark II. The fact that the prongs fold in is a huge blessing, no more holes poked in pockets of camera bags. What's NOT a blessing is the price, this is a simple plastic design that probaly cost four bucks to make, the price is too high, hence only 4 stars. This is common with Canon. However, the convenience to me is worth it, the only other option is to pull out the charger that came with the camera, unravel the two cords, then charge the battery in-camera. If you have two batteries you can't charge one while using the other, UNLESS you get this CG-800. So, pricey, but extremely useful and convenient, so much so that I did buy one and not regretting it now.
