I have used third party cartridges in the past and have had nothing but problems with them. I had to replace the print head twice in my i960 due to clogging and overheating of the electrical components. Since I have switched to using genuine Canon cartridges exclusively in my i960 and i9900 printers, I have had zero problems. Apparently, exact ink formulations are critical in these printers.
