I have used compatible ink cartridges and Canon cartridges, the compatible brands don't come close to Canon brand.
I saved money on the off brands but the print head clogged,I have never had this problem with Canon cartridges.

I ordered six cartridges exclusive to my printer, allowing enough time between the time I received the warning of low ink and actually running out of ink. Unfortunately, my black ink cartridge completely ran out of ink before I received the necessary cartridges, so I was unable to print for a few days. Other than that, the cartridges themselves are of excellent quality.
